Juventus have announced their Champions League squad for the new campaign, but Stephan Lichtsteiner has been left out of the list.

The obvious suggestion for such an omission would be due to the rumours that the Swiss full-back was pushing for a move during the transfer window. Certain unreputable Italian papers suggested that Lichty was keen on a switch to Inter; a move that beggar’s belief given the players stature within the squad and his unwavering commitment to the team over the last five-years.

The squad does include new signings Dani Alves and Juan Cuadrado, both of whom can play on the right in Juve’s 3-5-2. Granted, Hernanes has been included…..perhaps simply due to the lack of central midfielders we’ll have later in the year when both Kwadwo Asamoah and Mario Lemina will be departing for the AFCON.

I’m still trying to make sense of it….perhaps the situation will be clarified in time…..for now, it’s a strange move by the club, and a hugely disappointing one.
