Juventus have stolen a march on Inter Milan, PSG and Manchester City by advancing negotiations to sign Genoa’s Pietro Pellegri.

The 16-year-old has impressed in cameo appearances for Genoa, attracting the attention of a number of Europe’s top clubs, however Juventus are edging ahead in the race to sign the player.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Monday was a decisive day for the Bianconeri and they now have a clear advantage to sign the player ahead of Arsenal, PSG and Manchester City.

The deal is expected to be completed in July, however Beppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici have worked in advance to ward off potential suitors like Inter Milan.

It’s reported the Juve directors met with Genoa Director of Sport Giorgio Perinetti to discuss the likelihood that Il Griffone would part with their starlet, and were quoted a figure of €30m plus bonuses, however this was a starting price, open to negotiation.

Contact with the players agent, Giuseppe Riso, have been ongoing for some time and the Bianconeri may agree a similar deal to the one that saw them sign Mattia Caldara – They would sign Pellegri now and leave him on loan in Genoa.

Juventus are also following a number of other youngsters in Serie A, including Han Kwang-Song, and it’s reported there may be a new meeting between Juventus and Cagliari today.

Cagliari are asking €20m and the services of striker Alberto Cerri, a figure Juventus deem excessive, however negotiations are ongoing.
