Juventus have made a revised offer of €20m to sign Santos forward Gabriel Barbosa.
The Brazilian forward was initially expected to sign a new contract with his current club, but the situation is believed to have changed in the last 24 hours.
Following yesterday’s 1-1 draw against Palmeiras, a game in which he scored, Gabigol was uncertain about his future.
“The renewal with Santos is not yet certain.” he admitted after the game.
“We’re just talking, there are many things to be discussed with my father and agent. I’ve also had offers, but nothing is confirmed yet.”
Brazilian outlet ‘Lancenet!’ later reported that the player had agreed to join Juventus, however Santos deemed their €18m offer too low.

Goal.br are now reporting that Juventus have made an improved offer which may be enough to see the deal through. Expect more news on this in the coming days. It’s entirely possible that Juve may have a genuine interest in the precocious young talent….or it may just be paper talk that comes to nothing.

I don’t get this. Sure he may be a very talented player, but I don’t think we need him right now. We’ve sold Morata already, and we need to find a replacement for him. Pjaca is a winger/CAM, he isn’t going to be that replacement. And neither is Gabigol. He’s too young and has no experience playing in Europe. A top quality striker like Benzema or Sanchez is needed. If Zaza leaves, it would make more sense for Gabigol to then come in as 4th striker, but I would rather take Immobile for that role. He is much cheaper, and fits the home-grown requirement.
how many spots do we have for non EU players?
That’s another good point if we are short on non EU spaces, but I’m not sure about that.
who doesnt has EU passport? dybala should has it, as he played some years for palermo, sandro played for porto, should has it too, who else, no one cross my mind right now lol, having some beers after works lol
Loll nice man! What are the qualifications to become an EU player if you’re from somewhere else. If you have had to be in Europe for a few years, then I think all our players have it.
I guess you gotta figgure, if we can sell zaza and buy Gabriel for the same money then its worth the risk. I dont know too much about this player but he seems very talented per media outlets.
media can make you god anytime.
20M will only be 40% of the fee or something. These type of transfers are always so complicated. Barca ended up paying like 80-90M for Neymar I think overall.
that 80 – 90M for Neymar was worth it nonetheless, i hear no Barca fan complaining
Are you joking right now? Barcelona has pretty much an unlimited amount of money, they can afford that price. They pay Neymar 25M a season ffs, do you even know these things? You think we can do the same for our players? God lol this guy
no which is why your comment made little sense in the first place. Now u see my point. You stated that deals for brazilian players are bad, because you never pay face value, implying there are many more add ons, ass apperantly happened with Neymar. You provided no facts and claimed 25Mill was 40% of his value, Now take a look at your response to me, and now apply it to your statement and all will be clear as day
25M is Neymar’s salary, that’s what I am talking about. Our salary cap is currently at 4.5M bro, per season. I said we are offering Santos 20M for Gabigol which only owns about 40% of the player. These are all facts, you can look them up yourself with a quick google search if you want.
no you are wrong gabigol himself owns his 40% contract
ad rest 20% doven sports.
How am I wrong? 20M is still only 40% of the total fee then bro.
They are paying 20M to Santos, which by your maths as well only has 40%.
yes 40% major portion will be included in his salary as was the case with pjanic.

yes,it would be a great deal.Reportedly zaza is close to Wolfsburg.
jesus christ Immobile? why the hell would we ever buy him? he sucks complete ass if i must be frank, showed promise and talent when young..shows nothing now, no thank you i think i rather have Mandzukic; Also i wouldent call Benzema top quality..his heyday passed and whats left of his skill has no where left to go but at a decline, hence Madrids relentless effort in re-sign Morata. Gabigol is very versatile He plays CF/LW/RW ..Just based on the highlights he seems a better player than Pjaca ..Also the Brazilian league is about twice if not even 3 times that of the Croatian league; On top of Brazilians and Argentines rarely have any trouble at all playing in europe, its the Central/North American players that really struggle.
Man you have made so many incorrect points in this argument I literally don’t even know where to begin to refute them. I’m just very glad you’re not in charge of our transfers lol
lol well my comment already has an order of arguments…you might want to follow that XD …Well lets just say the feeling is mutual or we would have Immobile and who knows how many more sub par strikers…Thankfully Beppe and the gang appears to be on the same page with me as there has been no buzz about immobile coming to Juve…although there is Buzz for Chicharo and that is even more unsettling
After watching this YouTube video I’m really not that impressed. There’s allot of hype surrounding this guy but I don’t see it there honestly. Seems like every other propped up Brazilian player.
what did you want him to do? move the soccer ball using Telekinesis? Super Mega kung fu scorpion shining dragon chilena from outside the box? The highlight video posted on this thread shows immense technical ability and pace. he is a great player…better than Pjaca based on just youtube highlights…I too get annoyed of every next prodigy and very very good players being predominantly Brazilian or Argentine but it is what it is lol
Thank you for your excellent scouting report of comparing their respective YouTube videos.
Lol gerald, this is my personal opinon :). There’s too much hype around Brazilian players, every prospect is the next Neymar, Messi, Pele etc… Keep in mind the defense’s in Brazil are half the quality off those in the Italian league so allot of these players look great on video highlights. I’m just saying that I personally was not impressed with this video or with Gabriel in copa america as well you know they crashed out in the group stages. 20+ million seems absurd for this player but i guess this is what we get thanks to an inflated market. Its fun to keep buying players but do we really need them? Why spend money when you dont have to.
it was late and had a few beers lol, i was trying to make it sound funny, though now that i re read it i guess it did come up a bit strong, We all have opinions and thats what makes us unique and seek eachothers company. True..i mean i personally dont think Neymar is even that great..he is just overpriced and over marketed for being in Barca, I know there is young brazilian talent better than Neymar outhere. he is far awayfrom a Ronaldinho or Kaka or many of the great Brazilians of past times.
you said: “Its fun to keep buying players but do we really need them? Why spend money when you dont have to.”
i agree with your statement should this player be a midfielder, or a defence….we really dont need fire power in those areas, and actually think your comment applys better to Benatia (although he is a lone but still). Also keep in mind Gabi is attack and can occupy any attack position, Not just the wing, or just the center. Also keep in Mind our attack is very very weak and dire
– we lost Morata
– We have Mandzukic (he is an ok player, nothing special for champions)
– We have Zaza ( he’s like a tank, but cant be counted on for big games against opponents like barca, the madrid’s, Bayern etc..) I wouldent mind disposing of him
we have Dyabla (our best attacking player)
So with the exception of Dyabla our attack is pretty close to trash, and laughable to big teams like the spanish elite and Bayern, i mean Mandzukic is a Bayern reject and with merit, And an equally ambitious team like Atletico also didn’t wish to retain him.
we have bought
– Ikone (a big gamble …who knows what to expect)
– Pjaca (another big gamble ..who knows what to expect
– Gabigol ( another gamble … who knows what to expect
– i think we also got a serie B player i dont remember..but same story
so yea we have bought 3-4 attackers..But none of them are proven and they are all gambles….Unless Beppe is some sort of god, not all 3 – 4 of them will be exactly what he hoped and become stars in the team…maybe just 2/4 or 3/4 at best.
Keep in mind all 4 of our new attackers also hold Much more pace than Mandzukic and Zaza, Gabigol has just enough Strength as them, So at least that ensures us he wont go flying every tackle or be in a constant injury cycle
Bottom line i think so far we have made good buys up top , reinforcing our top half with very credible future Star power, However we NEED, Desperately Need someone clinical that’s proven…The likes of: Alexis Sanches, Higuain etc…
I see these 3-4 new signings as a filter..after this season i see ourselves disposing of Zaza and even Mandzukic, if any of these 3-4 talents come anywhere as close as the level expected of them
Just my take on all of it.
Guys this player is very versatile can Play both wings and CF very well, He is a better player than Pjaca (just by looking at The youtube videos posted on both their respective pages)
Gabigol shows:
#1 better technical ability
#2 better at protecting the ball
#3 better finishing
#4 Faster (more Pace)
#5 not afraid to show off and pulls some very beautifull travelas and skill moves
The reason why i make the comparison is because they are both Wingers, But Gabigol can also Occupy CF/ST very well, Pjaca can’t but Pjaca can also occupy CAM (apperantly so people say). Also keep in mind the Brazilian league is much much stronger than the Croatian league
I for one am happy and welcome him with open arms, He is not as big of a gamble as Ikone and even less of a gamble than Pjaca, Santos is not a mediocre or bottom tier Brazil team, Like Corinthians and Flamengo..they constantly fight La Libertadores (south american champions cup equivelent)
Welcome Gabigol!
Interesting rumours, which I would very much like to believe, yet we are often linked with brazilian stars, only to see them move to richer clubs. And so I will avoid the excitement…What is clear is that Beppe, Fabio and Pavel have been very busy over the last few months and unlike last season, where our transfer policy – other than Dybala and Sandro – seemed a little too close to ad-hoc. For Pjaca, Pjanic, Alves and likely Barbosa were all targeted long ago. We are improving year upon year with our recruitment.
Barbosa does indeed appear raw, talented and powerful. I hope there is some fire to this smoke.
he’s a great signing…or so he appears to be…only critique so far is that he appears to be like Mandzukic (where he helps Defend a lot) … Not a bad thing..but not to great for counter attacking football
It apperas Chelsea AGAIN wants TO STEAL our Guy!! im starting to really hate Conte!! he be stealing all our players first Mitchy now Gabigol https://www.caughtoffside.com/2016/07/14/chelsea-table-25m-bid-for-brazil-international-striker/
