Juventus are in the market for a new midfielder with Bayern’s Mario Gotze or Schalke’s Julian Draxler top of the list.

Arturo Vidal is set to complete his €37 million move to the German champions in the coming days, and the latest reports in Italy suggest that Juve will reinvest that money in a trequartista to suit Coach Max Allegri’s 4-3-1-2 system.

Both La Stampa and Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Gotze is the priority for the Bianconeri with Draxler as secondary option.

Draxlers agent confirmed he was in Italy earlier today but denied it had anything to do with his client.

“I’m in Italy,” Roger Witmann told Tuttomercatoweb.

“But I don’t know anything about Julian Draxler and a move to Juventus. He plays for Schalke 04, you’d have to ask them, these are just rumours.”

Gianluca Di Marzio suggests Juve are looking to initially take Draxler on loan with an option to buy set at €25 million, based on how often he features for the club.

Gotze is seen as a more ideal transfer, given he can play directly behind the strikers and Juve may yet ask for him to be included in part of the deal that takes Vidal to Munich.
