Amauri scored as Juventus were held to a 1-1 draw by French outfit Nancy, but Diego is still nowhere to be seen.
The internationals (Buffon, Cannavaro, Chiellini, De Ceglie, Marchisio, Camoranesi, Sissoko, Almiron, Iaquinta, Trezeguet and the injured Diego) stayed behind for a normal training session, so it was a limited squad that played in the city of Joeuf.
This is UEFA President and former Juventus legend Michel Platini’s hometown and he stepped on to the pitch before kick-off to shake hands with the two teams.
The good news from the 1-1 draw is that Tiago Mendes seems to finally be delivering on his promise, aided by Ciro Ferrara’s new-look diamond midfield and he even hit the upright.
Amauri and Alessandro Del Piero played for the entire 90 minutes and the Brazilian was on target just eight minutes in, tapping in youngster Ciro Immobile’s cross from the left.
The defence continued to show some difficulties, though, as Alex Manninger needed saves on Gavagnon and the impressive Dia before Ouaddou anticipated Jonathan Zebina to score in off the crossbar.
Immobile wasted a couple of chances from close range, while Amauri and Del Piero continued to drill off target. |
