Rafa Benitez's agent has denied having any contact with Juventus about the prospect of his client leaving Liverpool for Turin.
Manuel Garcia Quillon announced yesterday that Benitez would not be going anywhere immediately, but as for the long-term, he said: “in football you never know.”
His comments have led to feverish speculation about Benitez's future, especially in light of his recent troubles at Anfield.
This morning's Tuttosport led with the headline: 'Juve to Benitez now or in June'.
Asked to clarify his position, Quillon is quoted by the BBC as saying: “I have had no contact with Juventus or with any other Italian club regarding an interest on Rafa.
“There have been rumours linking Rafa to Juve, just as there have been reports linking Guus Hiddink to Juve.
“They are all media speculation and there is no truth in it. Rafa has a four-year contract with Liverpool. He feels he has the strength to continue with the team and he is fully focused on guiding Liverpool up the standings,” Quillon concluded.
