Juventus will use Thursday's clash with Ajax to monitor promising Holland international defender Gregory Van der Wiel.
The Bianconeri are looking for a long-term solution at right-back having played Martin Caceres out of position for much of the season.
Caceres has impressed so far on his season-long loan from Barcelona, but the Spanish giants are requesting €11m for his permanent transfer, which may be a bit steep for Juventus.
Tuttosport understands that Van der Wiel is only slightly cheaper, but competition from Manchester City and Arsenal will no doubt drive up his price.
Van der Wiel's agent, Hakim Silmani, has intimated to the Dutch Press that contact has already been made with Juventus and that a transfer is possible.
At 22, Van der Wiel fits in with the Bianconeri's plans to gradually rejuvenate their ageing squad.
Juventus have scouted other right-backs across Europe in recent months, including Schalke's Rafinha, but the Brazilian now appears to have agreed a pre-contract with Genoa. |
