Juve close to Kuranyi

Wednesday 3rd March, 2010 | Football Italia

Juventus are said to be very close to wrapping up a deal for Schalke striker Kevin Kuranyi, according to the Italian Press.

The Bianconeri are looking for a target man capable of replacing David Trezeguet who is expected to leave in the summer.

Kuranyi is available on a free transfer in June when his existing contract with Schalke formally expires.

The 28-year-old Germany international who was to born in Brazil has scored 12 goals in 23 appearances this season.

He rejected the opportunity to join Sunderland in the January transfer window and has also attracted interest from Liverpool and Roma.

According to Sky Sport 24, Juventus have already made an official approach. However, Kuranyi has yet to put pen to paper on a pre-contract.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands he has set his sights on Juventus though, and will not be fielding offers from any other clubs.

Juventus are also interested in Ajax striker Luis Suarez and Benfica winger Angel Di Maria, both of whom would cost almost €20m.
