Juventus have confirmed that Martin Caceres will miss the remainder of the season through injury.

The Uruguayan ruptured his Achilles tendon in last night’s narrow 1-0 over Genoa, being stretched off in tears shortly after the start of the second half.

An announcement on the clubs official website confirmed the extent of the injury.

Martin Caceres underwent a series of tests to ascertain the full extent of his injury,” read a statement on Juventus.com

These confirmed a torn right Achilles tendon and the player will have surgery tomorrow.”

The announcement means Caceres has likely played his last game this season and possibly his last game in Juve colours, with his contract set to end this summer.
