Juventus could look to sign Bayern Munich’s Xherdan Shaqiri rather than offer Sebastian Giovinco a new contract.

“I wanted to leave last summer,” Shaqiri is reported as telling Blick this week.

“But the club made its decision and I had to accept that. I thought that after the World Cup it would have been better for me to try something new, I thought of moving and there were several enquiries. But Bayern decided I had to stay and I couldn’t do much else. Everyone knows though, that I want to play more. I’ll talk with Bayern again, and we’ll sit down and talk over the winter. But I really feel I’ll never be a starter, even if I score in every game.”

Juventus coach Max Allegri is apparently a fan of the Swiss international and Tuttosport reported earlier this week that Juve would prefer to sign the Bayern man to replace Sebastian Giovinco. The Atomic Ant’s contract with Juve expires next summer and he’s struggled yet again to make an impact in Turin with Olympiakos and Napoli both interested in a winter transfer.

Shaqiri spoke of Juve’s interest in signing him shortly after the end of the World Cup.

“I’m having holidays and I don’t know what will happen,” he told Tuttosport in July.

“The only sure thing is that I have a deal until 2016 with Bayern. We will see in a short time.“Juve ? I don’t know if there are contacts with them or with Liverpool and Monaco. Surely Juve could be a good option so as Liverpool and Monaco. They are a big club, who wouldn’t like to play there ? I’m a Bayern player but I wouldn’t see Bianconeri as a step backward for my career.”

According to the Express, both Liverpool and Manchester United are also interested in signing the player.
