Juventus have been linked with a number of transfer moves including the possible arrival of a new left-back to potentially replace Patrice Evra, while Simone Zaza is close to agreeing a move to Valencia.
It’s that time of the year again when we collectively brace ourselves for an onslaught of transfer stories, the majority of which never become anything more than filler for the papers and websites. Despite my scepticism, there seems to be some genuine interest in Juve players this winter along with some possible interest of our own in fledgling talents as we keep one eye on the future. Without further ado, here’s a brief roundup of the state of player with the big stories doing the rounds.
The Italian striker endured a torrid few months at West Ham where it seems he failed to settle and only managed a handful of appearances for the Premier League side. As such, his transfer clause wasn’t activated and he’s returned to Italy with a number of Serie A clubs interested in acquiring his services. The latest news linked him to Fiorentina where he could become a direct replacement for Nikola Kalinić who is expected to complete a big-money move to…..you guessed it, China. Other options include AC Milan where he could become the focal point of their attack, taking over from Carlos Bacca who’s been linked with a big-money move to…..you get the idea. Despite the players desire to remain in Italy, news this morning links Zaza to La Liga club Valencia – He’s reportedly given the ok to a loan move which would include an option to buy set at €16m after a set number of appearances. One thing seems certain – Zaza is unlikely to remain at Juventus.
Despite having a contract until the summer, it seems Zio Pat is on the verge of leaving Juventus, hot on the heels of his woeful display in the Supercoppa defeat to AC Milan. Sky Sport Italia report that Evra is considering a switch to Valencia where Juve are already in talks over a deal for Zaza, although the Frenchman is also keen to hear more about reported interest from his old club, Manchester United. It’s suggested Evra could join United on a 6 month-deal as they make a push to secure Champions League football for next season. You can get the latest odds on United’s chances as well as lots of other great betting offers on my betting sites. Once his contract is over, Evra is expected to retire and make the switch to join Jose Mourinho’s staff at the club.
As expected, with Evra’s rumoured departure, a number of names have been touted as his possible replacement, the strongest candidate being left-back Adam Masina. The highly-rated 23-year-old is a product of the Bologna’s youth academy and Gazzetta dello Sport maintain that he’s a realistic target for the Bianconeri. The Moroccan-born defender has managed 3 goals in 80 senior appearances and is widely considered to be a future star for the Azzurri. Watch this space.
Next up, we have the most exciting news of the lot – Juventus director Fabio Paratici was pictured meeting with Ascoli officials in Milan leading to reports that the Bianconeri were in talks to sign 19-year-old winger Riccardo Orsolini. Ascoli director Giaretta confirmed the talks, explaining that :
“There was an initial exploratory meeting with Juventus for Orsolini, but for now it’s just a chat, nothing in-depth. The two clubs are reflecting on some issues.”
It’s an exciting move, if it materialises, especially as Orsolini is widely considering a hugely promising young talent at both club and national level. Reports in the this morning’s CdS suggest that a deal has already been struck for €5.5m including bonus…..although it’s probably better to wait for

An ongoing rumour that refuses to die: Various papers in Italy, France and Spain report that Juve are prepared to activate Steven N’Zonzi’s €30m release clause. A bizarre report in L’Equipe suggests that the Frenchman is Juve’s ‘No.1 target’ and he’s already rejected a contract renewal with Sevilla in the hopes of completing a move to Juventus. A strange story from start to end as the player only seems to have played a few good seasons in his career and Juve now have Rincon and others in midfield who can do a similar job. Let’s hope this remains a transfer rumour and little more.
