It’s fast approaching that time of year again – The winter transfer window will be opening on 1st January 2015 but the rumours are already circulating on which players may be joining or leaving Juventus. Without further ado, here’s the latest rundown on the stories in the papers this week:

1. Roma join the race for Lichtsteiner ?

Can it really be called a race ? Not really, especially given how confident Beppe Marotta is over an impending renewal for the Swiss defender. The Juventus director spoke to Sky earlier in the week:

“We’re talking about it [the renewal]. The player has requirements, but we have to take our budget into account. In any case, I’m confident [that he’ll stay].”

Despite all that, Calciomercato suggest that a move to Arsenal might be on the cards or possibly even Roma. With the Giallorossi looking for a long term replacement for Maicon, the transfer website suggests Roma might be prepared to sign Lichtsteiner on a free next summer….despite the fact that he played for Lazio, and now Juventus.

Likelihood:  0/5

2. Sneijder seeks Juventus move

Turkish website Webdehaber reportedly earlier in the week about a possible return to Serie for Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder. It was reported that agent Guido Albers had already met with Juve directors in Turin and made it clear the player wanted to join the Bianconeri.

Vidal ! Pogba ! Marchisio ! Pirlo ! ……..Sneijder ?! Nah.

Likelihood:  1/5

3. Heurtaux agent on Juve links

Thomas Heurtauxs’ agent says his client will be allowed to leave should Juventus or Inter come calling, despite having a contract with Udinese until 2019.

“Heurtaux will not leave Udinese in January,” David Wantier told Calciomercato.

“The lad is liked by Inter and Juventus because he can play in both a three and a four-man defence. He’s a player who can play many roles, and that’s attractive to a lot of clubs. He won’t leave in January, because we’ve already talked with Pozzo about it. If Heurtaux keeps up his form this season, playing well until the end, Udinese will consider his transfer, if a suitable offer comes in. The lad has just signed a new contract with Udinese until 2019, so it’s premature to talk about him leaving, but it’s clear that if Heurtaux keeps up what he’s doing in an Udinese shirt, the Pozzo family has promised to entertain offers.”

Certainly looks like a longer term option given the players age and his decent-ish form for Udinese. A hard one to assess but it would be a very Juventus-like signing given the recent transfer dealings between Juventus and Udinese.

Likelihood:  2.5/5

4. Juve in for Juan Mata ?

The Daily Express (I know, I know) suggest that Juve are amongst a number of clubs that are in the running to sign Juan Mata from Manchester United. According to the English paper, United are prepared to take a loss on the player and sell him for €25m with Atletico Madrid also in the running.

Beppe Marotta to spend €25m…in the winter transfer window ?

Likelihood:  0/5

5. English interest in Marchisio

…and finally, Juve are set to offer Claudio Marchisio an improved contract to keep him at the club until 2019. Tuttosport are reporting that there has been strong interest in the Italian midfielder from both Manchester United and Arsenal with the Gunners having made enquiries about the availability of the player.

Just to recap, Claudio Marchisio was born in Turin, came through the Juve youth ranks, made his way into the first team and has never truly expressed any desire to leave his boyhood club.
