It’s fast approaching that time of year again – The winter transfer window will be opening on 1st January 2015 but the rumours are already circulating on which players may be joining or leaving Juventus. Without further ado, here’s the latest rundown on the stories in the papers this week:
1. Roma join the race for Lichtsteiner ?
Can it really be called a race ? Not really, especially given how confident Beppe Marotta is over an impending renewal for the Swiss defender. The Juventus director spoke to Sky earlier in the week:
“We’re talking about it [the renewal]. The player has requirements, but we have to take our budget into account. In any case, I’m confident [that he’ll stay].”
Despite all that, Calciomercato suggest that a move to Arsenal might be on the cards or possibly even Roma. With the Giallorossi looking for a long term replacement for Maicon, the transfer website suggests Roma might be prepared to sign Lichtsteiner on a free next summer….despite the fact that he played for Lazio, and now Juventus.
Likelihood: 0/5
2. Sneijder seeks Juventus move
Turkish website Webdehaber reportedly earlier in the week about a possible return to Serie for Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder. It was reported that agent Guido Albers had already met with Juve directors in Turin and made it clear the player wanted to join the Bianconeri.
Vidal ! Pogba ! Marchisio ! Pirlo ! ……..Sneijder ?! Nah.
Likelihood: 1/5
3. Heurtaux agent on Juve links
Thomas Heurtauxs’ agent says his client will be allowed to leave should Juventus or Inter come calling, despite having a contract with Udinese until 2019.
“Heurtaux will not leave Udinese in January,” David Wantier told Calciomercato.
“The lad is liked by Inter and Juventus because he can play in both a three and a four-man defence. He’s a player who can play many roles, and that’s attractive to a lot of clubs. He won’t leave in January, because we’ve already talked with Pozzo about it. If Heurtaux keeps up his form this season, playing well until the end, Udinese will consider his transfer, if a suitable offer comes in. The lad has just signed a new contract with Udinese until 2019, so it’s premature to talk about him leaving, but it’s clear that if Heurtaux keeps up what he’s doing in an Udinese shirt, the Pozzo family has promised to entertain offers.”
Certainly looks like a longer term option given the players age and his decent-ish form for Udinese. A hard one to assess but it would be a very Juventus-like signing given the recent transfer dealings between Juventus and Udinese.
Likelihood: 2.5/5
4. Juve in for Juan Mata ?
The Daily Express (I know, I know) suggest that Juve are amongst a number of clubs that are in the running to sign Juan Mata from Manchester United. According to the English paper, United are prepared to take a loss on the player and sell him for €25m with Atletico Madrid also in the running.
Beppe Marotta to spend €25m…in the winter transfer window ?
Likelihood: 0/5
5. English interest in Marchisio
…and finally, Juve are set to offer Claudio Marchisio an improved contract to keep him at the club until 2019. Tuttosport are reporting that there has been strong interest in the Italian midfielder from both Manchester United and Arsenal with the Gunners having made enquiries about the availability of the player.
Just to recap, Claudio Marchisio was born in Turin, came through the Juve youth ranks, made his way into the first team and has never truly expressed any desire to leave his boyhood club.
Likelihood: 0/5
1. I dont believe Lichtsteiner will leave Juve to join Roma or Inter, its bullshit. He played for Lazio, so joining Roma seems like a move he won’t make and why on earth would he want to join Inter, a shitty midtable team?
2. Sneijder please, anywhere but not at Juve
3. Heurtaux, for real? Not good enough, it’s not cause he’s from Udinese that you have to buy him Marotta
4. Fancy, but unnecessary and expensive. Good player but not one who we need if you ask me.
5. Good joke, I never believe any rumours about Marchisio leaving, we don’t sell him and he isn’t leaving. If there is ANYONE in the squad who is guaranteed to stay, it’s Marchisio
0/5, 1/5, 2.5/5, 0/5, 0/5. Not much to talk about here. 😛
I still want wingers.
wingers and fullbacks, all I’d like to see.
Plus some sales, get rid of some dead weight players
Agreed. Though Marotta needs to buy the replacements first. I don’t want to see an empty bench.
agreed on that too
Lots of dead end transfer talk – don’t see us signing anyone….but the reports keep coming out of the papers – Anyone would think they have money to make
I don’t see us getting Mata without giving Vidal to Man Utd. Plus, i would rather keep Vidal
Mata + 30m and Id let Vidal go. Itd be nice to have them both, but thats not likely.
nope , mata sits on the bench, sneijder is not wanted in any of the big leagues, pfff, one of those would be a disappointing signing. Certainly as Vidal or Marchisio leaves
Plus his wages are 10 mill euros a year.
Ahahaha this video is great, Llorente dancing and singing in a show xD

Ive never been to a gay bar, but his vocals are what id imagine the back ground music would sound like :p
Juve being linked with a romanian CB who plays for Spurs and Jovetic today
Chiriches? Meh.
thats the one – Seems average. Doubt we’ll spend a single euro
I hope so. He is not what I consider Juve level (5th pick for the 12th team in the PL? come on), and takes too many risks as a CB.
Fuck newspapers
Marchisio is part of the club’s history
id only sell marchisio to get verratti from psg. nothing else.
I personally wouldnt even do that. In my biased opinion, hes untouchable.
Marchisio wont leave, unless its to play in the MLS later in his career. I cant see him playing for another European team.
I cant see it happening either. Its just, if the opportunity were to arise id take it simply because marchisio will be 29 by the end of the season and we wont be winning in europe within the next few seasons. Also, a midfield with both pogba and verratti could drive us to the CL. Its all just fantasy football though
I rate Marchisio very highly, even in his dip in form. He’s been doing great lately so hell no he’s not for sale.
All i really want in the January Transfer Window is Shaqiri, then i’ll be happy, But a MUST is that we hold on to players like Vidal and Pogba. ESPECIALLY POGBA!!!!!
Nobody leaves in winter.
Lichtsteiner hates Roma. He gives them the finger. Or rather, 4 fingers. I can see him leaving for any team, but not Roma. Still though, i don’t see him leaving us now and i don’t want it to happen either.
Sneijder…. I would love a dutch player at Juve, but….. It’s frustrating. He has so many positive things, but even more negative things. He is on great form currently, but he is over the top. Could be another Pirlo move, but like Pirlo it will only be for 1/2 maybe 3 fun years and then we will see him go downhill real fast. And Pirlo asks for less than Sneijder. The thing that will hurt the board the most. Sneijder wants the big money and we aren’t gonna give him that, i hope. He has a moneywhoring girlfriend who is gonna scar Turin for the rest of the city’s existence. Personally i would love to see Sneijder return to Ajax. It would be him admitting he is over his top and that he’s earned enough money to last him for the rest of his life, he’d have to take a big cut in his salary, but he can be so good for Ajax still. It will never happen though.
