Jack Wilshire is out of contract at Arsenal this summer, sparking speculation over his future with the club. There are already several top European sides after his signature, Juventus being serious contenders to sign him. Although the England international has suffered from many injuries over the last few years, he’s still only 26-years-old and has plenty left in his locker. Arsene Wenger wants to keep the creative midfielder for multiple reasons, but the club’s hierarchy is only willing to offer him a re-signed contract consisting of £90,000 per week, which is £20,000 less than he’s being paid now. Juventus have been linked with a summer move and if reports are correct, they are willing to offer him a similar contract to what he’s on now. What are the main reasons for Juve’s interest?
1. Creative Passing Ability
Wilshire has always been known to string passes together that have been impossible for other players in the game to accomplish. He’s continuously looking for space and more often than not, he finds it. Since losing Pogba, Juventus have lost a creative midfielder and they could fill that void with Wilshire, should he want to leave Arsenal in the summer.
2. Excellent Dribbling Skills That’ll Get Any Crowd Going
Juventus have a strong set of supporters who are always on their feet. However, since losing big star names like Paul Pogba, they haven’t had the creative play in which Wilshire is able to offer. If Juve can get Wilshire on the books this summer, he’ll infuse a lot of excitement thanks to his dribbling skillset. Jack can make things happen when things aren’t going his team’s way, and that is an attribute Juventus are highly interested in acquiring.
3. Has Competed with the Best in World Football
Jack has plenty of European experience he can take to Juventus, which is another quality they’re after. He’s competed with the likes of Cristian Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in recent years and, although he’s not always had the better of them, he’s still shown he has enough quality to compete. The only issue with the transfer is if Wilshire will be a success in Serie A, as it’s very different to the Premier League. However, Juventus can get Wilshire on a free transfer this summer, so it’s not much of a risk if they’re only going to offer him a short contract to see if his injuries hold off. Will Jack be a success at the Italian giants should he leave Arsenal? You can look at the latest football bets to see what odds you can get on Wilshire leaving the Emirates this year.
4. A Quality Player That Hasn’t Peaked
Jack was one of the top up and coming players going back 7 or 8 years ago. Unfortunately for him, he’s had to contend with many injuries which has held him back from his true potential. If he can get some luck over the next year or so, he will come good and prove his doubters wrong. The fact is Wilshire hasn’t peaked yet and his best is yet to come, which is something Juventus could well benefit from.
5. A Player That Doesn’t Mind Tracking Back
The problem with many attacking players these days is that they don’t do enough when it comes to their defensive duties. They get lazy and don’t get into the game enough. Italian football is all about defensive play and, should Juventus acquire Jack in the summer, he’ll give them both attacking firepower and good defensive play. Jack might not be as fit as he once was due to his injury setbacks, but he still has plenty of stamina to keep tracking back when it permits.
There’s a good chance Wilshire will take the offer of a new contract in the summer with Arsenal, but with Juventus looking for a player of his quality, there’s still a strong chance he could head for the Emirates’ exits. There’s plenty of talk about Wilshire being a waste of money purely because of his injury problems. However, if he can get his head down and avoid further injuries, he’s certainly a player that can offer Juventus the quality they need to progress further.
