Allegri vs Pirlo: Report compares both managers’ work at Juventus

April 17, 2022 - 2:00 pm

In his single season as the manager of Juventus, Andrea Pirlo won the Super Cup, Coppa Italia and finished inside the top four.

Yet the club felt his team was moving in the wrong direction, and they replaced him with Max Allegri in the summer.

Allegri had won five consecutive league titles for them in his first spell in charge, and there was a strong belief that he would return the team to its glory days.

However, this has been a poor season and Juve is set to end the campaign worse than under Pirlo last season.

La Repubblica believes the team hasn’t done better than it did last season under Allegri. They write, as quoted by Tuttomercatoweb:

“If everything continues to go well for him, at most he will win the same points, and a trophyless, than his beardless predecessor. The most successful and best-paid manager in Serie A continues to juggle stumbling blocks and mediocrity, ending up contenting himself with a draw against a team that hadn’t scored points in Turin for 11 years and that played 9 in the last 11.”

Juve FC Says

Allegri has not improved Juventus in this campaign and he is only banking on his reputation to keep him in the job in Turin.

This has been a tough season for us and he knows he would be replaced if things don’t get better.

However, with his huge salary, the club might want to give him one more season before they decide on his future.

I just hope they get slaughtered by Fiorentina in the coppa Italia.
Maybe that will trigger the management that they really need someone else at the helm.

In Europe it was the same
In Serie A, we have actually done better

People forget so quickly that last season we secured the Top 4 spot in the last match (with a little help from Verona)
This season we are comfortably in Top 4 already
    = improvement

People should understand that Pirlo had a poor team on his hands. Allegri has two world class midfielders on his hands (Locatelli and Zakaria). Still Allegri gives worse results than Pirlo. With Pirlo on the bench with Loca and Zaka juve would be balling.

We need a creative midfield player and an other who kills opponents’attack from the midfield, just as we had Pjanic and Vidal.
    Coaches do not make miraclea.

If comparing is what the topic is
Pirlo finish 4th place in emergency state, however 25win, 9draw, 6loss in 38 match with +40 on goal aggregate..with only 35M Kulusvski being major transfer, CLexit on accidental deflected goal off Ronaldo. Now let’s look on Allegri 33games played only already 9 draw, 6 loss recorded with only +20 on aggregate with 80M Vlahovic playing about 10 games. CL exit with 0-3 humiliation, never won against top 4 serie A including Atalanta. We have the figure now to discuss.

    Comparing facts are
Last season we made a top 4 spot in the very last match (with Ronaldo on the bench for the entire match) + Verona won
= we couldn’t make the top 4 spot on our own
This season we are already in a top 4 spot
= we’ve done it by ourself
    = improvement.
