Boca Coach Guillermo Schelotto insists that Rodrigo Bentancur is ready for Juventus and there’s no need to loan him out.
Speaking with Tuttosport, the Argentine tactician talked about the 19-year-old midfielder and how he believes Rodrigo doesn’t need to be sent away next season.
“Bentancur is already ready for Juventus. He’s very strong, he’s a big talent; No loans or intermediate steps are needed.
“In recent months, he’s actually improved further in all aspects of his game. He’ll remain with us until June 26th, then he’ll head to Turin to join up with the Bianconeri.
“Rodrigo has features that similar to Steven N’Zonzi. In fact, for me, he’s actually better.
“Where should he improve his game? In the goal area. A midfielder like him must score at least 6-7 goals in a season.
“In the 4-2-3-1 that Allegri uses, Bentancur can play with tranquility in one of the two central midfield roles.”
For me, it is worth giving it a go. him and/or Mandragora to stay!
Yah, for me too. Both of them look talented and class players, if we could give so many chances to the likes of Sturaro and Lamina, why not Bentacur and Mandragora? They actually fit CM in 4-2-3-1.
We have Sami, Pjanic and Marchisio. The first two are much more offensively minded with the defensive phase of the game not natural to their talents. Marchisio is the only one who I believe is a good fit for a DM position, which includes holding back, anchoring the side, screening the defence and acting as a fulcrum, delivering passes, dictating the pace of the game.
We will likely end up with 5 players for the 2 positions, as its arguably the most important part of the team, and one we never got quite right last season. Hence the interest in a specialist for that area and set of duties.
Both Rolando and Rodrigo fit the bill, yet neither is experienced at a high level. I hope also that one stays at the club and gets chances, yet how often will they play with the three mentioned in front of them?
We can as always solely place such a decision with Max. Yet given he refused to place full trust in Sturaro, I believe either one of them will need to impress hugely pre-season to even be considered.
Hey Tgp,
News about Sandro true?
It seems lunacy to find Chelsea potentially bidding 50-60m pounds on a LB when they have Alonso who was superb last season. Why an owner would sanction such a fee…is as bizarre to me as signing Bakayoko for 40m when you have Matic and Kante. Perhaps they are trying to create the strongest side in the world. With two world class options for every position. It makes sense…And they have the cash.
As for Beppe, I agree with him, if Sandro wants to leave, he can leave, as long as we like the price. I am sure we would express our desire for him to stay, but wont be pleading.
He earns a moderate wage i believe around 3m, presently, and we had a new contract in the offering this year. Regardless of what we offer, Chelsea can easily double it. I hope he stays.
Thx for that clearified answer. I hope that if Costa comes Sandro stays automatically. To get friends with him. Show him the Piemont etc.
Would be a colossal loss to lose Sandro.
Agree with you, but we know that Max will definitely change formations sometimes here or there. And I am sure that sometimes during season we will play with 3 man midfield as well. Overall I would love to see one of them getting some game time.
I think betnancur is more ready than mandragora. He’s had more experience so far and has delivered fairly well but I am equally as excited about both. Mandragora has tremendous potential, we’ve seen a glimpse when played against us at genoa. The kid reads the game with the best of them and is so good at anticipating opponents next move. Let’s face it, Claudio and sami are only going to decline in quality going forward, not to mention injuries. Lemina will be sold but I am a bit disappointed it didn’t work out for Sturaro. Quality wise mandragora has way more potential than stefano.
Also anyone know if Sensi might be used anytime soon.
Tricky to judge on the experience level…My inkling is that both have played a similar level for their country. And that the Primera league is probably somewhere between Serie A and B in terms of quality. Rolando might have an edge, already knows the league, culture and club. Yet plenty of south americans to help Rodrigo quickly feel at home…
Yeah why not. Hey whats up with Sandro,is he really leaving?????
Last I heard we refused a pretty hefty offer for him. I doubt we sell our young proven talent unless Alex himself wants out.
