Paolo Di Canio believes Juventus bought wrong when they signed Leonardo Paredes in the last transfer window and he explains why.
The Bianconeri have been struggling this term, but the club invested in its squad in the summer to avoid it.
Paredes alongside Paul Pogba were the two main midfielders they added to their squad, but only the Argentinian has played for the club so far, with the Frenchman currently injured.
Max Allegri made it seem Paredes was the last piece of the puzzle when the Argentinian joined the club, but he is struggling to get the best from the former PSG man.
Di Canio believes the Argentinian is simply not the midfielder Juve needs at the moment.
He said via Tuttojuve:
“Paredes has a clean pass, but then the rest have to take care of the rest. It’s not Pjanic or Pirlo, Juventus needed another type of midfielder, with different characteristics from those of Paredes.”
Juve FC Says
Paredes has failed to live up to the expectations most fans had when he first moved to the club.
The Argentinian has played for some fine teams around Europe, but he is not showing what persuaded us to add him to our squad so far, meaning this transfer has been a bad one.
Parades was a really poor decision by Allegri. We wasted money on him that we could of used elsewhere. We had a young exciting player who impressed in preseason in Rovella but sent him away. Rovella has been also doing really well in Monza. Grazie Allegri
Everyone who comes to this team either gets worse or never lives up to expectations. What’s the common denominator, oh that’s right, Allegri, the gaffer who plays everyone out of position, has no system, and fond of the bus! Either the one he parks on the field, or the one he runs his players over with.
That’s not true. Don’t let anti-allegri feelings get in the way of making honest judgements. He plays Paredes where he is suppose to be. Everyone was saying he would be a waste of money and time. They should have kept and used rovella. Pogba was also a bad move and people will notice when he plays. Yes Allegri is not doing well but it’s not because of his tactics. It’s everything else that he does wrong.
Paredes is very average..PSG were desperate to get rid of him..I think we are obligated to sign him..so that’s 24 M wasted thanks to Slowlegri for not trusting Rovella…Slowlegri wanted Kostic and Paredes..”mature” players..if u want to build a team over 4-5 years, u need a coach who can trust youngsters with potential and help them grow..Slowlegri never did that in his life
“Paredes has failed to live up to the expectations most fans had when he first moved to the club.”
Everybody who has been watching this guy can confirm he is a mediocre player. But the allegrosaurus dont develop players and instead sends out Rovella to Monza, which is good for Rovella, and instead brings in Paredes for 20 million euros. Thats 2/3 of what they would have had to pay for Frattesi.
To Paredes defence it has to be said that the Juve midfield will always suffer under Allegri, because Allegri dont really play any football, just sits back down and counters, and this means that the midfield is not involved, thus you have fine passers like Locatelli suffering. That is why we have seen one midfielder after another flop in this team.
“… failed to live up to expectations “.
Can you point to one player who has actually met expectations under Allegri? All have arrived with great potential (e.g. Berna and Kulu) only to fade away. Miretti was an accidental find, especially after the US tour – and it seems like he’s lost his spot as well.
True that…Chiesa was average under Slowlegri..Kulu was not trusted and was set up to fail…Gatti is making his buttmark on the bench.. while DeSciglio got a new contract only when everybody was waiting for his contract to expire, thanks to him riding Slowlegri’s dick, carrying his bags, being slow and average and getting wake up pills for Slowlegri every time he makes a visit to the medical centre
I dont see Paredes as a bad signing. He has been more consistent than the other midfielders. Honestly the problem is the midfield. They can’t provide the passes to get shots on goal and they don’t provide adequate cover for the defense. Wish Aleggri would play 2 strikers with Kostic on left, Paredes center def, locatelli center attack, di maria/chiesa on right. We need to be more offensive to put the opposition on their back heels. The team needs quicker, shorter passing also. They passes they attempt are too long/risky
Ya..more consistent in being bad…midfield is the problem and hence it’s Slowredes..can’t do long pass for quick counter…can’t tackle or intercept…hits FKs outside the stadium..but can ride Slowlegri’s dick and make painfully slow short passes and lose the ball…Rovella should have never been loaned out…we wasted 24 M on average Slowredes
