Marcello Lippi has discussed Cristiano Ronaldo in a recent interview with the Portuguese attacker set to remain at Juventus this season.
He has one more year left on his current deal and might be forced to see it out at Juve this season.
The attacker had been targeting a move away and PSG looked like the only suitor who can truly afford him.
However, the Parisians have just closed out the signing of Lionel Messi on a free transfer, effectively ending the possibility of adding Ronaldo to their squad.
The attacker is on a huge salary at Juve, but he scores the goals to make it worth paying.
Unlike some players who play anywhere in the attack, Ronaldo has only a small amount of assists to his name compared to the many goals he scores.
Lippi says he is the best goalscorer in the world, but he isn’t a typical striker and needs a number nine as he had at Real Madrid in Karim Benzema, before he can thrive.
He told Gazzetta dello Sport as quoted by Calciomercato: “Cristiano Ronaldo is the strongest scorer in the world. He does not create them, but he makes them concrete.
“What is important is that the team offers them a lot. He was never a true center forward, he always needed a type 9Benzema next door, but Juve don’t have this 9.
“I imagine that Allegri will make him play with two other strikers, in a system of cuts, overlaps and changes of position that will not give reference points to the defenses. “
No point in changing for one season. The Ronald failure will be over soon. Football is won on the field not by thumbs up. For every one or the muh goals brigade, the while team has sacrificed to make one player look good, the goal difference statistics corroborate this, plus the temporary ‘fanbase’ is pure toxicity. 1 million a goal is never EVER worth it.
Martin you really lack objectivity, if you look at the performance of all the attacking players there was absolutely no support for Ronaldo and you fail to take into account the coaching experiment which left a lot to be desired. Ronaldo was not a failure, he was the consistency that so many of his teammates failed to achieve. Internationally Juventus did not possess a team or the players that could compete with the best. More people followed Serie A as a consequence of Ronaldo. Your unfortunate bias Martin affords you no credibility.
Funny how ppl blaming ronaldo without ever realize or admit that its us who dont know how to utilize him. Building the squad around a star player is normal, you need to feed him. If he is such a failure, how can he manage to carry Madrid for so long? Sure he had ups and downs there but it is idiotic to say that he is not their main man especially in Europe. Have you ever see our match highlights when he keep asking for the ball upfront and being ignored almost all the time? I basically against him coming to Juve not because I dont like him, its just we’re not ready for a player with his stature. I know he would regret it one day and that day has come now.
Wait wait wait so when messi failed to win the cup in 2016 did he not win it later so as soon as someone has a big setback you shooting arrows at them…hey its not Ronzldo fault juve is failing think about this ronaldo is scoring alot of goals for his club right? The answer yes…there are possibly true rumors that most of his his teammates hate him and also ronaldo said he wants to leave because they are not playing up to his level right??? Yes. So think about it ronaldo still scoring goals likes he’s a god or something plus his teammates allegedly hate him… do you guys understand what’s going on??? Big success comes after fail just remember that.
I don’t know what is the problem of retired coaches & directors…they just want to show they are current this soccer century. If it’s so we should keep you busy with a grassroot team you should manage and produce world class players in the next ten years. Is this current Juve team good or balance as the one cr7 met after 3yrs. If Lippi could not advise Allegri and others on this matter…just shut up.
