Juventus signed Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid in 2018, and the Portuguese attacker played for them until he left at the start of this season.
Ronaldo was signed because Juve wanted to win the Champions League, considering that he was a serial winner of the competition.
However, the Bianconeri couldn’t even reach the semi-final stage of the competition when he played for them.
But his arrival in Italian football boosted the profile of Serie A, and it made perfect business sense to have him around.
Some would argue that there was no value in his arrival at Turin, but Juventus CEO Maurizio Arrivabene, disagrees, and he says via Tutto Sport: “The operation brought the results, it also brought visibility into Italian football which it was different. I would not focus only on him, but on a broader discourse.”
Juve FC Says
Ronaldo is arguably the most marketable footballer that has played in Serie A, and Juve deserves credit for bringing him to the competition.
The Bianconeri are the only Serie A club that can pull off such a transfer, but they have to judge if they benefited from it as a club before splashing out on another global superstar.
Well…
Juve pre Ronaldo =
Absolute rulers of Italy (4 straight back to bsck doubles)
A powerhouse in Europe (only going out to other powerhouses Barcelona, Real Madrid & Bayern Münich)
Easily scoring 100+ goals for seasons in a row
On Forbes Top 10 list (#9) of Most Valuable Clubs
Juve with Ronaldo =
No more doubles & in the end not even Champions (struggeling just to qualify for the UCL -Top 4)
A joke in Europe (going out to Ajax, Lyon & Porto)
Struggeling just to make 90+ goals a season (only just making 100+ once)
No longer on Forbes Top 10 list (#11) of Most Valuable Clubs
= a disaster signning

You really thought you were gonna win Champions league with players like Adrian Rabiot, Alex Sandro, Danilo(who you guys traded for joao cancelo), Bernadeschi? Show me a single champions league winner you have had a better team than. You have had a dead midfield that basically had no creativity since Pogba and Pirlo left, your midfield just passed the ball to opponents even when the opponents were not pressing. The only tactic Juve tried to pursue was when in danger, was to try and put crosses in the box and even there, your full backs were horrible, well you could tell they are horrible if they ever put in a cross actually.
In Real Madrid, Cristiano won champions league after like 5 seasons from joining, in 2014. Man literally won 2 trophies in 5 years and still kept going for 5 more years. In United, he took 5 years too. Man didn’t even care to wait that long for juventus. Then u bring back Allegri, whose football philosophy should be displayed in jurassic park movies. In Serie A, juventus even got pens for opponent defenders breathing heavily. Cristiano literally had 11 penalties in that Sarri season. Man was living up to the dream, the penaldo life. Guess what who didn’t get penalties in champions league?
If you think you ever had a team, to be a champions league winner, because you were competing with teams in their lowest point in history, because you were beating teams in the league that wouldn’t finish in top 6 of any other relevant league other than ligue 1, then you need to touch grass, because reality is often disappointing.
Our goal difference tanked as we solely focused on one player who showed up whenever he wanted, we couldn’t afford players because of his wage, and he brought the most toxic fanbase over ever seen with him that followed him back again. If it brought attention to Serie a they did nothing with it. A failure that was literally a sidestep to a slippery slope.

I totally disagree on issues around Ronaldo’s alleged failure…Ronaldo did his job by scoring goals..became the highest goal scorers Juve;it’s NOT HIS FAULT THAT DEFENDERS FAILED TO STOP OPPONENTS TO BEAT JUVE.CR7 is not a defender and there other players on the field…goalkeeper must also have caught the balls,…CR7 is the world’s GOLDEN CLASS
So you blame one player for the failure of an entire team?
Single minded fool, didn’t mention
1 the poor goal keeping that destroyed all chances of succeeding in Champions League.
2 The lack luster midfield that struggled to hold the ball or even run with it.
3 the horrendous defense with old centerbacks that are constantly injured.
4 transformed an attacking winger to to right back defender, too cheap to get the best in the market or even someone decent.
5 terminated an excellent coach in his first year & replaced him with a coach that has NEVER coached 1 game of professional level!!!
6 management knew they were getting old & needed a jolt of adrenaline & thats what they got.
7 RONALDO led the Serie A in goals, so he was not a failure, he did his job.
8 The club recouped all the transfer costs in the first month of Ronaldo transfer in advertising & sales.
9 thats another reason they got him THE MOST MARKETABLE PLAYER EVER! The List Goes On & On, but the True followers of Juve know this already.
10 But this writer decided to blame RONALDO for all these failures with the club????? Obviously he is as RONALDO would say ” he jealous of me” or he has RONALDO PHOBIA!! Get the facts then write the truth Not just your singleminded view!!
