Juventus have officially confirmed the transfer of Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandžukić.
The Croatian international arrived in Turin yesterday and completed a series of medical’s earlier today.
Juventus confirmed the transfer via the clubs official website. A brief statement outlined the details of the deal and the fees involved:
“Juventus Football Club can announce that an agreement has been reached with Atletico Madrid for the services of Mario Mandzukic, who has signed a four-year contract.
“A fee of €19 million, payable in three separate installments, has been agreed, with a potential extra €2 million to be added on if certain performance-related targets are met. “
Mandzukic gave his first interview to Juve’s Youtube channel where he talked about having a soft-spot for the Bianconeri as a child:

Please….no more threads
Ok, it’s official. No more transfers now for a while….i hope…unless Tevez or Pirlo leave…..which might happen later this week.
Meh – I know its a pain as people are starting to visit and dicuss once again. So for now, i will keep it to the bare minimum
Tevez has probably left already. Might have taken his stuff with him on his way to the Copa America and might move straight to Argentina afterwards. Maybe a few visits to Turin to finish everything, but he’s gone.
I;m happy about this deal. He;s a hard working striker, rangy, reminds me a bit of Trez, but more mobile.
Thoughts on this deal ?
Happy ? / Disappointed ? you can vote via the link above
Trez? really? He seems more like a Roy Makaay but maybe not as fast. What always stood out about Trez was his ability to finish from absolutely any situation from absolutely any cross or pass… You don’t get ’em like Trez anymore…
I’m just curious to hear why some people aren’t happy with the move? I like it but would want to hear others’ opinions!
I voted ‘not sure yet’, because I want to see Dybala and Morata as the 2 strikers. For a 3rd (and 29 year old) striker it’s a lot of money, but I guess if Llorente leaves I’d understand this move.
That makes sense then. And I can’t see us keeping Llorente with Mandzukic coming in. I’d love to keep the guy but his wages are just too high. I think Dybala will get a shot to play behind Morata and MM
I’m good with this. I was against it when I heard it could be as much as €30m. I assume this means Llorente and Tevez will both leave.
I’m a fan of bayern’ mandzukic, not following him since ATM tenure, from what I heard from atletico fans he has 1st half good season and 2nd half bad season.
Pretty excited yesterday when it become official, but losing some of my excitement today when I know his price is 19-21M, a bit too much I guess, 15-18M as rumored is the perfect price. Not to mention his salary will be 3.5M atleast. I’m just scared he will be another llorente, i’m also fan of nando in bilbao, a perfect prima punta, really excited when he signing with us, but that 1 season without football really doing damage to him, never as good as his prime again.
Nevertheless if juve’ mandzukic as good as bayern’ mandzukic even 25M would fit his value. Good luck mandzu.
So, I’m gonna vote not sure yet.
Still need a LB, and would like to see us bring in another CM who is capable of starting full time in a season or 2 when Pogba and Vidal are more than likely gone.
Another rb too, unless we re all happy with Padoin :p
Lichtsteiner-Caceres-Pereyra are good RB’s 😛
It’s the left side where it gets bad :p
No way they plan on using Pereyra as a RB. Caceres and Licht for the right side and Asa/Evra for the left side. Darmian fee is around 20m…we should get on that or go for Kurzawa/Fabinho from Monaco
No but he can play it, I dont think we need a RB, a LB is more essential, Evra is good and so is Asamoah but he doesnt like playing there and after these two we are forced to use padoin. I would love those
We need more attacking FB’s. Especially since in our current lineup that provides most of our width
I forgot about caceres
Thats the Zaroli syndrome, you need to find a cure for that asap 😛
Who’s not happy with Padoin? Seems we always Pado-win when he plays…. ha ha ha.
I think they will use asamoah and caceres as B’s
Where do you come from pal?
Earth. Also, America. And to a lesser extent, Virginia.
Wow!!What do you have to do with Juve?
When I visited my sis last year august in san francisco none of that friscos knew juve.
Im from Cologne, Germany.
Took me a while to realise Cologne = Köln haha
But you arent german?
No sir i’m Dutch
Then we are neighbours.
Do you think Van Persie will come to Juve??
Most of the Juve fans I know of are on the East coast of the USA, or Toronto/Montreal Canada. California has a large Hispanic population, so there’s a huge La Liga and Liga MX following there, so you probably won’t find many Juve fans there. AC and Inter are also more well known in the USA than Juve for some reason.
Yup.. These stupid mexicans dont even acknowledge Juve as a big club and always ask why i go for them.
#GoBackToMexico
Welcome. Hope you do better than i expect you to do. Obviously he’s a great striker and has been world class. Tevez got his old form back, so who knows.
I actually like this move alot. Mandzukic has played on big teams and played deep into Champions League campaigns with both Bayern and Atletico. He brings class and pedigree and I think he’s gonna do very well, especially as an elder stateman in a very young group of strikers … which is very exciting. Juve is going to have a different look next year (especially if Pirlo leaves) and I’m excited to see Dybala and Morata do well, Mandzukic too.
Pogba is going to stay. No way Juve loses Tevez and Pirlo and doesn’t keep Pogba.. They don’t need to sell him.
Somewhat happy, but not too excited since Tevez are going to leave. I’m sure he will do well in UCL. In serie-A, his tenacity and provocative character may drive a lot of defenders crazy, and then left them space out.
Read that atletico signed Jackson martinez for 35M .. Which team did the best deal ?
We’ll know after next season 😛
Will depend a lot how we will play, 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2 and which player will play well together … excited to watch 🙂
Morata-Mandzukic-Dybala Morata-Mandzukic
Pogba-Marchisio(Khedira)-Vidal OR Dybala(VIdal)
Pogba/Marchisio/Khedira/Vidal
I dont feel confident using Morata out wide, I think using him and MM as a duo will work better, supported by Dybala from a CAM/CF position
Morata is good at drifting wide when he needs to but he definitely should not be playing on the wing. He is a modern #9
Yeah exactly, he should be in the center of it
Which standard formation do you guys think Juve will play next season? And first 11?
will depend on the other transfers, Tevez out, then maybe 4-3-3, but then I would hold on to Llorente, because that’s his game. If Llorente leaves as well, 4-3-1-2, I guess, but maybe Jovetic or Oscar or X will join ???
I dont see jojo as a ntural treq
Xmas tree, 4321. We don’t have a natural trequartista so I think we will be using 3 forwards with Mandzukic/Morata/Zaza at the top and Dybala/Pereyra/Berardi/Morata/Coman (if not on loan) behind the prima punta
4-4-2. But only Del Neri’s 4-4-2, because that’s clearly the best.
We played a 442 in defense last yearand then transitioned to a 4312 in offense. I don’t think we have enough wide players yet. I’d want Asa as the LM and Berardi as RM but then not enough depth at LB. Rotating Dybala, Morata, and Mandzukic up top would be awesome
It was a joke, because Del Neri was the worst Juve coach of all time. Nowadays, 4-4-2 is a terrible formation that weak coaches use.
I think 442 can be effective, we just don’t have the personnel for it
No. The teams that successfully use a 4-4-2 nowadays are teams that play more of a 4-4-1-1 or a 4-1-2-1-2, a flat 4 midfield 4-4-2, which Del Neri played, is an awful formation. Especially since he used attacking wingers as wide midfielders after his failed 4-2-4 experiment.
For me: 3-5-2, 4-3-1-2, 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-3-2-1 are the best formations to use. 3-5-2 to control games late on, slow games down, to counter attack, when we need to rest a lot of starters and against low/mid level Serie A teams; 4-3-1-2 for most European games, counter attacking teams, high tempo/top Serie A teams; 4-3-3 against attack heavy teams to add pressure and force them away from their attack, against teams that build possession out of the back, when we need attacking possession and when we need to add pressure. 4-2-3-1/4-3-2-1 for me are subsets of 4-3-3, the team plays a 4-3-3, but certain times in a game, and whenever else the tactics require it, the formation shifts with 1 or 2 forwards dropping back to pack the midfield, build possession for us, or take possession away from the other team, and to help control the tempo for a while, and lull a team to sleep before sending the 1 or 2 forwards back into full attack.
I also don’t see Pogba, Marchisio, or Vidal as a natural fit for that wide midfield role. They’re all better playing centrally
4-3-1-2
Buffon
Lichtsteiner Bonucci Chiellini Evra
Vidal Marchisio Pogba
Dybala
Morata Mandzukic
Khedira will play
I don’t see him coming in and immediately displacing any of Pogba, Vidal or Marchisio. He will surely challenge for a starting spot but he will have to earn it
Yeah he will, but I don’t see him benching the others
Most logical formation yes.
Yeah It’s what I think too, but in reality I think Dybala-Morata-MM will rotate for those two striker spots and Vidal or Pereyra will play where I had Dybala.
Or a 4-3-3
You think or you hope? 😉
Haha, what I hope is a better choice probably, since I expect it to be different 😛
Morata dybala
Manduzic
pogba vidal marchisio
Khedira
evra chiellini bonucci
Buffon
3 man back that doesn’t include 3 CB’s? Not gonna happen. It’s gonna be a 4-3-?. Allegri allows his forwards to move around freely and is much less rigid than Conte was. So he will have his back 4 then a midfield of 3 and either use a treq or 3 forwards
This formation hurts to look at… very lopsided… haha
So Pirlo to NYCFC… nice. Who wants to go see NYCFC vs Toronto at Yankee Stadium in September? Pirlo v Gio. Only a 5 hour drive for me.
Rooting for Pirlo in that game!
NYCFC Reminds me so much of Man city and their badge looks like inter’s so I already don’t like the team but I will always root for Pirlo
I don’t care a shit for NYCFC and I have no clue what their badge looks like 😛 I just interpreted it as Pirlo vs Gio xD
Oh and it definitely will be. I wonder if there are any Juve chants during the Toronto games. I know there are a lot of Italians there. And if I went to a Pirlo vs Gio game I would def try lol
I guess NY will win though, they have David Villa and Lamps too. No idea who else plays in that team, or Toronto. Would be nice to see the Maestro show what a true legend is over there in the US
I don’t follow MLS but I’ve been to a few Red Bulls games and saw Henry score a hat trick so that was pretty cool. Lampard and Pirlo midfield should be able to control the play but besides those 3 guys idk anybody else haha
Not at all … Never.
There are alot more italian canadians at the games now, that;s for sure … We have such a large population here (800,00) of italians and you now see alot more azzurri jackets, juve jerseys, milan jerseys etc …. He’s had a good effect at the club.
Since he’s been here, he’s actually made it clear to the media that Juve is in the past for him and that he wants to be known as a TFC player. There were some Juve chants at the airport when he arrived, but to again answer your question … No, there are no Juve chants in the crowd, the fans are there for TFC and it’s all about TFC ..
Yeah that makes sense
where in toronto are u from
I live in the city, downtown …
You?
maple/woodbridge
Wish he could’ve made it there for the game on july 13th. That would’ve been awesome. If Pirlo is playing there this summer then I’m def going a few times (I’m from NJ tho so it’s close)
I’ll come.
I just watched Gio this weekend in Toronto at BMO Field, I’ve been to 4 games already….
Do it. I’m definitely going. It’s going to be an awesome game.
Gio is a gem.
On the MM topic, I also voted not sure. Yes he is a great player and apparently a Juventino, but he has had a mixed season at Atletico, he’s 29 and he was heavily overpriced.
His performance will have the final say, hoping he can score a lot
I don’t think he was overpriced. 19m while Dzeko is more, Bacca is more, Jackson Martinez is way more. Hell he is only 4m more than Zaza and MM is a way more proven scorer than him! He still scored 20 goals while coming on as a sub for a lot of the games second half of the year. I think I’m just a little optimistic and excited to see what he can do in black and white!
Serious. Llorente pirlo padoin matri tevez out. Knock at the chelseas door for oscar.
Or whats with Witsel? Or fuck me Pereyra!!!!!
And next season will be hardcore for juve. Inter owes know Kondobia. Or whatever his name was. He is great.
But I can tell you here from allemania germania Manduzic is perfect. When he was at fucking bayern he knew where to goal was.
Inter are shit and always will be. Mancini is a bum and they’ll fuck it up. Plus they keep spending like this and it might be them who go bankrupt soon…
They will do well next season, and have some good players to build a team around. But, I still hate them. For Serie A sake I hope they start doing well again, but just not better than Juve.
you think they get rid of Kovacic? Seems like they’re gonna need to raise funds from somewhere. If they make it to Europe next season then that means they will have to deal with FFP again
Its from goal.com germany.
those idiots forgot marchisio.
They just don’t understand how vital he is for our team.
Not many do… Even our fans overlook him :p
Not forgotten, benched for Khedira. Retards
Well they’re German so I’m guessing they’re pulling for the only German on the team…
OFFICIAL
Juventus Football Club can today announce that Roberto Maximiliano
Pereyra has joined the club on a permanent basis from Udinese, with the
pre-arranged fee of €14 million to be paid over the course of the next
three years.
Awesome. I think we were obligated but still. I’m happy
Sorry not convinced .. Good player .. But top ??
He was our second vest midfielse last season imo
Marchisio and Pogba were def better I think
UPDATE
———————–
Strong rumours from gazetta – Pirlo is going to NY now – not waiting for January.
I love Pirlo, but it has to happen. Our least most important midfielder and has been on a rapid decline. Absolutely grateful for what he did and will certainly be hurting when he leaves, but its for the best of the club.
Least most important?
That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard in years …
Definitely terrible wording from my part…
I meant our least in form midfielder
Pirlo is a god ….
Even at 36 and even at 60% of the Pirlo we know, has more talent than most mid fielders in the world ..
but 60% of Pirlo isn’t better than Marchisio, Vidal, and Pogba. I think that is what is trying to be said here. Not taking anything away from him, he is a legend and maybe the only person that can play for Inter, Milan, and Juve and everybody in Italy still loves the man to death.
But he was playing on less then 60% this past season. He didn’t look his former self at all.
So both Tevez and Pirlo are leaving. Who is gonna take freekicks from next season. Marchisio? Pogba? Don’t think we would score many goals from freekick like we did in the last 3 seasons.
Marchisio isn’t bad at it, not a Pirlo ofc.
That’s too bad for Gio. He’s now the 2nd best player in the MLS.
Hey guys, any official word on the Juve-Adidas kit for next season? Also kit numbers for new arrivals..?
