Juventus continues to monitor Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi, and they could add him to their squad soon.
The defender wants out of the Biancocelesti, and they are also happy to sanction his departure from the club.
However, it must be for the right offer, and Juve may have found a good solution to the problem.
Tuttomercatoweb claims the Bianconeri are interested in a swap deal that would see them add Acerbi to their squad and send Daniele Rugani the other way.
Rugani has a very good relationship with Maurizio Sarri, who currently manages the Rome club, and this offer could be one that they accept.
The report, however, adds that Lazio might be reluctant to do the deal because they have many defenders, and Inter Milan also wants Acerbi.
Juve FC Says
This is the perfect opportunity for us to offload Rugani because he has fallen down the pecking order at the club.
The Azzurri star will hardly play for us this season, and he deserves to be at a club when regular action will be available to him.
However, Lazio must accept the offer before the move can happen, otherwise, he might be stuck in Turin for yet another campaign and play less often.
Not worth it. The 33-year-old Accerbi might be of a bit higher level, but I don’t see a reason to swap a 27-year-old that has decent skills for someone who can give us 1-2 years of quality football.
Rugani isn’t that good, period!! Should have been gone a few years ago! We let quality players go out on loan or get rid of them totally that should be here! Might as well play 3 back and have Cuadrado go up and back on defense. Or Peligrini. Sandro is useless too!! He should be gone!
he’s not a starter, but he’s not as bad as you discribe. On Sandro I do agree.
Totally agree. We need to build with quality playplayers who have Juve in their hearts.
Both Acerbi and Rugani were better than Milikovic.
I don’t know what to think of this. Rugani is really not that great. Yet Acerbi is not really the greatest either. However, he is better than Rugani and gets playing time with the national team. Rugani does not. Maybe this is the best move for Rugani though. And sometimes it is refreshing to see a team sacrifice for a player for once. Show players that this team cares and they are not about holding players back. Realistically though, Sarri didn’t really give Rugani a shot when at Juventus either. But he was one of his greatest students at Empoli. When Sarri arrived, I thought for sure this was going to be his chance. But never happened. Back to Acerbi though, I think he is an improvement on Bonucci. But I think this move sends the wrong message to both Bremmer and Gatti. I have a feeling that if this swap happens that it is going to be a Bonucci/Acerbi backline. Unless they are doing this because they want to play with a back three because Bremmer has more experience in a back three and Juventus fullback situation is not that great. This means Bonucci/Bremmer/Acerbi with Gatti making substitutions for all three throughout the season. That sounds good me.
