Riccardo Orsolini is expected to join Atalanta on loan for the next two seasons according to various reports in Italy.
The 20-year-old winger impressed Juventus scouts last season and he was subsequently snapped up by the Bianconeri in the winter transfer window. That promise was confirmed as he went on to net eight goals and provide six assists for Ascoli before enjoying a successful summer at the Under-20 World Cup where he scored five goals for the Azzurri.
There were suggestions that Allegri would keeper the player or the summer Ritiro before evaluating him ahead of next season.
Sky Sport Italia report that Orsolini will now join Atalanta on loan for the next two seasons in a deal similar to the one involving Mattia Caldara.
Atalanta will retain an option to buy the player, however Juve will also retain a buy-back clause.
1 year loan; good, let the kid play
2 yr loan; eh, ok… but not a fan…
Including an option to buy (for Atalanta) are we losing our mind??
I don’t care if we included a buy-back clause or not, horrible idea. Orsolini has showed too much promise last year and at the U-20’s this summer for this type of deal. Unless we are going to sign every winger we get associated with on the transfer market (and bury him on the depth chart) this loan is too long. Orsolini could very well be a squad player next year… disappointing to say the least.
There are three sides to the story, Juve´s, Atalanta´s and Orsolini´s.
It is simply one variant of the modern co-ownership routine.
Especially after signing Costa, who can play either wing, there was little room for Orsolini unless we also got rid of Cuadrado. The Colombian is evidently remaining at the club, yet I will assume as much as hope, mainly as a squad player.
European football, an up and coming lively, attacking team very well managed by Gasperini. We couldn’t have found him a better place to play regularly at a decent level. Its a solid step up from Serie B and if he performs superbly he will wear the black and white in due course. First he must adjust to a higher level of football and prove himself worthy.
I stated my opinion elsewhere about the practise of signing young talented players just to loan them out to lower level clubs, but I tent to agree with you in this instanse. Atalanta is an attacking side which knows how to go about young players, so they really are the best possible place for him to evolve. But I think there is another reason for the deal. Atalanta has at the moment two juve players (Spinazola and Caldara) on their ranks, players who have another year as per the loan deal between the two clubs. Both play though in possitions we currently need or might need(if Bonucci goes to Milan) a new signing. The way I see it, Orsolini is just a way to show to Atalanta that they can profit from a good relationship with juve, and be more possitive in allowing Caldara for example come to us a year earlier….
