Ronaldo replies to Bonucci and Chiellini: “I will still close mouths and win things”

October 23, 2021 - 10:15 pm

In the last few weeks, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini spoke out on Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from the club.

Leo said that the Juventus players need to find back their pre-Ronaldo spirit, while the captain blamed his late departure for the team’s woeful start to the campaign.

Naturally, the Manchester United star didn’t appreciate the words of his former teammates, and he decided to strike back on the first occasion.

“I know when the team needs my help defensively. But my role in the club is to win, help the team to win and to score goals – it’s part of my job,” Ronaldo told Sky Sports UK as translated by Football Italia.

“The people who don’t want to see that is because they don’t like me but to be honest, I’m 36, I win everything so am I going to be worried about the people who say bad things about me? I sleep good at night. I go to my bed with my conscience very good. Keep going with that because I will still close mouths and win things.

“Criticism is always part of the business. I’m not worried about that. And I see it as a good thing to be honest. If they worry about me or they speak about me, it’s because they know my potential and value in football still. So it’s good. I’ll give you an example: if you’re in a school and you’re the best student, you ask the worst student if he likes the best, they’ll say they don’t like him.”

Juve FC say

While the opinions of the Italia duo obviously stung Ronaldo, their statements were carefully worded, and didn’t include personal attacks nor insults for the striker.

Bonucci didn’t blame Ronaldo for the team’s lack of spirit during his presence in Turin, but the lack of fighting mentality was plain to see.

Chiellini, on the other hand, was arguably right when claiming that CR7’s late departure was behind the terrible results earlier this season. But again, the captain didn’t verbally blame the Portuguese, but the departure itself.

Therefore, Ronaldo talking about shutting mouths and comparing himself to the best student in class is a further proof of his unsuitability to the Juventus cause from a mental perspective.

Really…CR7 failed to qualify for U19 Euros & U20 FIFA World Cup, was a disaster at The Olympics, has 1 Euro to his name because the TEAM won the final without him & has been a consistent failure at every FIFA World Cup he has ever played (4 so far)………what a GOAT

Well you seem to be one of those students that dont achieve much and hate those that do. Portugal would have never got to the final if Ronaldo did not take them there. Am quiet certain that you were not following Portugal’s progression to the finals. Since u hate those that achieve.

Lol, typically thin-skinned response. No one criticised the precious primadonna, all Chiellini & Bonucci stated were the facts.
CR7 willingness to backtrack to help his side defensively is already on show at ManU.

STILL supremely arrogant, STILL cost us ten in a row , STILL destroyed our goal difference, STILL couldn`t score against Benevento, STILL spitefullly destroyed our mercato, STILL caused problems in the locker room and the fanbase which we all knew he did, STILL cost us donnarumma, STILL playing for manchester for a lot less money finessing us once again, STILL a failure of an experiment who nearly destroyed our dna,STILL an old man bleating like a lamb as the younger generation took over three seasons ago, STILL thinks he`s better than those arond him. I`ve literally never watched a gamne with Messi, but i`d rather be sacrificing for a midefielder at least they will pass to strikers. There`s one thing they have in common nobody realises; before he moved to psg, he was `having problems` with Koeman…so the same as ronno, Allegri came back and he didn`t like having a boss and moved. Pochettino will never stand up to Messi and ollie wil lnever stand up to ronno. People already saying he`s taking over United, they will find out when their goal difference plummets and he can`t be bothered when united don`t win the champion`s league but he`s their darling and they will blame everyone else. looking forward, we are rediscovering playing as a team, and that will only make us stronger. It will take some time to de-program from playing to make a tired old man look better (although moving to the defence-weak amatuer but nice on tv english league has helped him immensely) like Real have to. Things are looking much better now greedy ronno is out

Cristiano Ronaldo is the best, play your part and let him do the rest. Deny or accept it, he is the best of the best. Avoid jealousy.

STILL, your hatred towards him is not gone. He was down with covid during match with benevento. arrogant yes. but he is not responsible for the sunday league defence. And as for donnarumma, allegri himself did not want him. he was happy with tek. other points i agree. and messi’s high salary was also a problem for barca. they could not buy others and had to sell suarez.

I agree with a few of your points. But allegri did not want donnarumma. and 3 manager in 3 years is something to think about. and lastly they lost scudetto partly bcoz of pirlo(an inexperienced coach) and selling their majority of squad. and other teams like inter, ac, atalanta had also become stronger. and prilo’s tactics were heavily depnedent on ronaldo. There are other players who care about money more then ronaldo. i am not taking names tho.

3 managers in 3 years is the management’s fault not the players. You guys need to put the blame on the right people not just people you dislike. That is one of the reasons we aren’t improving much. We attack players while keeping or trash players in the team stay and keep on defending the management who is responsible for the 3 managers in 3 years.

this was taken from an interview about his time at United right after the game against atlanta in the champions league. he was commenting on some of comments made about him not doing enough pressing on the pitch for United and not contributing enough in the games hes played so far back in the United shirt. it wasnt a reply to Bonucci’s comment

lol.. u guys and some people r so much obsesed with him. First bonucci and chiellini were never targetting ronaldo. secondly, ronaldo was responding to critisim from carragher, merson, neville and other pundits . honestly speaking some people will always find ways to blame him and to glorify him. my point is don’t worship him like god or don’t throw him away like shoe. Just leave him the way he is.

I don’t know how this is a reply to Leo and Chiellini, on sky sports the journo asked him about what his critics say about him and he simply replied to that. He did not respond to his ex-teammates, previously Bale said something similar to Leo and CR7 never replied to him in any way, cause he never does that. This is totally misinterpreted news.
Looking at the comments here, I seriously can’t believe this is Juve fanbase and I always thought we were better than Real Madrid fans.

What were Chellini and bonucci being paid to do if they need Rinaldo to help them defend. He did his job upfront and scored them goals. Now he’s not in the team, how are they performing.
