Juventus have a deal in place for Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny and are turning their attention to Angel Di Maria and Douglas Costa.
Sky Sport Italia report that the Bianconeri are working on two names for the attack this summer: Douglas Costa and Angel Di Maria, with one of them expected to join the club for next season. Despite Juve’s poor relations with PSG, Sky transfer journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that a possible transfer isn’t impossible and Juve could match the wages he earns at the French club.
Di Marzio also reports that a deal for Szczesny has been concluded with Juventus and Arsenal agreeing a fee of €14m [£12.2m] plus €2m in bonuses for the Polish international.
Szczesny has reportedly agreed a four-year contract worth €4m per season, which would rise to €4.5m in the final year.
Eh I cant help it but I dont want Szczesny, even if only because his name is terrible to spell.
I hope he is scared off by a year of sitting on the bench. Let Audero and hopefully Meret learn under Gigi and let them fight it out to become his successor at Juve.
We need a stop gap goalie at best if Neto wants to move on. Not a 16mill second goalie who actually wants to play. I would rather get a veteran like Storari back. Not actually Storari, someone like him. Reina perhaps, if it must be a Serie A experienced goalie
What’s wrong with Neto? Why does he want to leave?
Probably wants more playing time
World cup next year. The number one position is up for grabs for Brazil. Good luck to him, he has been a solid servant to the club.
why Szczesny? he is a horrible keeper! he is old to! What happened to Meret? Perin? Leali? Audero? hell somone unhered off will be better than szczesney
i really hope this is just another fucking rumour. Why da fuck would we go for this polish dick? damn it.We defenitely need attacking winger cos Cuadrado is joke.Costa could be great, but fuck du maria, slim shady lol, just another cuadrado with fucking huge wage.Central midfielder is another MUST buy type of player we have to get over the summer. Some monster next to Pjanic.
After reading a fair amount of the player whose name is damn hard to spell let alone say, I am surprised by the change in his humility and self awareness. He speaks like a different man entirely to the sometimes reckless keeper from North London. Well aware of his lack of progress during his time for the Gunners and matured, grounded and clearly good enough to claim a starting role in the first XI of a Roma side who have finished 3rd then 2nd during his time at the club.
Then onto his highlights, and it all combines to make this signing, if it happens, a welcome move. A decent price for a very experienced keeper, who is at a good age, has grown up, improved his mentality – which was lacking in England – who has held down a place at a decent club playing at close to the top level. Considering we must assume that Neto wants out, we could do a lot worse than (copy and paste!) Szczesny.
Some of his play reminds me of the Great Dane, as he loves to spread himself star like wide and makes plenty of saves from close range whilst commanding his box with far more composure than I remember from his PL antics.
We are not able to sign Buffon V2. He does not exist. And whilst Santo Buffon continues between the sticks, we are not able or willing to pay the huge sums required for the only keepers who might be near his standard…De Gea for example. So it makes sense to bring in Szczesny, as a number two. Not Buffon elect. And to see how he fares, when given the chances, see how he beds into the group, see if he can take the maturity displayed in Rome, and continue to build on that, as he has stated he wishes to.
At first this seemed horrible, but my mind was stuck in 2014 and before…
If that boisterous character of his has truly blossomed to include some steel, I sincerely believe that Chesny could surprise a few people.

Szczesny would be a waste of 14 million euros. Scuffet has 60 appearances between Udinese and Como. He should be brought in as our #2, and train beside GiGi for his last year. Then give him the reigns. Aside from that, if we could land Costa and Schick in the same week, that would be excellent.
I’m with you, gutterpoet, at first blush I was not thrilled with this potential move, but it has grown on me. And if I ever want to write more than WS I will, like you, copy and paste.
I can see what you mean with some of WS’ saves being reminiscent of the Great Dane, If he comes to Juve, I hope he can develop into the Great Pole.
Alex Meret is the future. Why oh why did this deal come together?
