Juventus could be on the verge of agreeing a deal for Stefano Sturaro to return to Genoa in a permanent move.

The 25-year-old midfielder originally joined Juventus is a €5.5m deal that included various performance related bonuses but struggled to cement a place in Max Allegri’s squad.

He was loaned out to Sporting Lisbon in the summer, shortly after sustaining an injury that kept out for the majority of the season to date.

Sturaro is yet to play a single minute for the Portuguese club and reports from Gazzetta Dello Sport suggest that Juve will bring him back from his loan in the January transfer window.

Gazzetta also report that meetings have already taken place between Juve and Genoa representatives and Sturaro is on the verge of a move back to the club where he made his Serie A debut.

Tuttojuve suggest that the deal could be somewhere in the region of €18m and could possibly be linked to Juve’s interest in Argentine centre-back Cristian Romero.
