Calciomercato has named Juan Cuadrado and Leonardo Bonucci as the two Juventus players that flopped in their match against PSG yesterday.
The Bianconeri were beaten 2-1 by the Parisians, no thanks to their poor start to the match.
It helped PSG to a 2-0 lead courtesy of Kylian Mbappe. After the interval, the Bianconeri were much better, and they got a goal back, but it was not enough to rescue a point.
The Italian media outlet points the accusing finger at Cuadrado and Bonucci.
They claim the defender struggled in a three-man defence and that is probably a clear sign he is now going out of fashion and needs to be replaced in the Juve starting XI.
Juve FC Says
Bonucci and Cuadrado have been important players to us for most of the last decade.
We know they are not getting any younger, but it is unfair to judge them by how they performed in just one game.
Bonucci is just returning from injury and he probably needs more time to get back to his best shape.
Hopefully, as he gets more minutes on the board, his performance will improve.
Cuadrado is one of the reliable members of our squad and we trust him to bounce back by the next game.
Gatti could have easily stopped that entitled Mbappe from scoring the first goal at least. Such a shame Bonnuci is still our center defender
Come on …Im not saying that Bonnuci did well but Dont forget his experience.Maybe with GATTI the result could be worst. He is inexperienced .We will never know…But its a pity that you judge a player from one game ….LOLL IT WAS IMBAPPE AFTER ALL….
what use of experience if he cant sprint close to mbappe???
experience without physicality is excuse.
same with the clown coach who kept all experience players and play like a pupup
Actually Cuadrado is too old to be deployed as right winger. He performs much better in the left wing. He will be benched anyways when Di maria comes back
We need a new right wing back or backup to Di Maria. Cuadrado should only be used as a second half replacement and not starting anymore. He is unable to handle the current workload, it is painfully reflected in his play.
WOW, GREAT! It’s np longer a TEAM GAME ……..we win together, we lose together……….the pseudo JUVE fans are now looking for scapegoats, like they did before with BENTANCUR, KULUSEVSKI, ARTHUR, etc etc ……..it’s a WONDER they did not pick on RABIOT and DESCIGLIO again……..now they;re after the blood of the CAPTAIN and CUADRADO who has been such a loyal servant to JUVENTUS.
Go and support another team……..you are NOT ETHICALLY FIT to be JUVENTUS fans.
Is it so hard for TRUE JUVENTUS fans to admit that the genius of NEYMAR, MBAPPE and MESSI can shatter any team? is it so hard?
FORZA JUVENTUS, sempre e comunque, FINO ALLA FINE.
The strategic brilliance of certain commenters……..CUADRADO is TOO OLD to perform on the RIGHT but performs better on the LEFT.
Such sublime MINDS …………….incredible!
Well sad my friend….
I don’t think it is wrong to say they are both aging and past their best. I love both these players and have supported this team for 30 years so don’t doubt my ethics, loyalty, or fandom but it is time to get younger. Max doesn’t let the youth play. The system is dated and not effective (at least not with the roster he has but maybe Paredes will help) in todays game. THere are so many areas we need to improve but I thought the same thing on Mbappe’s first. Leo looks a step slow, Cuadrado isn’t winning the one v ones like he used to. We have Vlahovic but only one person that can fire a proper cross to him. This team will struggle through a rough season but the talent is enough for a Euro spot in the current Serie A.
Hopefully we will get Pogba and Fede back soon and will look more dynamic offensively as the season progrsses. But as much as I disagree with a lot that is said on this sight saying that two older players looked old is simply the truth. Hopefully they will bounce back as the season progresses.
The fact is Bonnuci didnt play well. And we have to wonder why this was his first start back after injury against an inform Mbappe, Neymar and Messi. As usual Allegri got the tactics wrong. Kostic at left wing back? did you see how poorly he defended? I dont blame him for his performance defensively i blame allegri for putting him in that situation. De siglio should be starting in the left back role. danilo on the right covering for cuadrado (who also had a poor game sans his one cross to milik for the header that was saved) on the right. And is it me or do all of our players look clueless on the pitch? They each get the ball, stop, look around for what to do next puzzled, then pass back to the defensive line. I fully expect Vlahovic to force a move away in the summer. He’s constantly making runs and being completely ignored. At the end of every single match this season he looks frustrated, sans the first game. As our only attacking threat he should be fed the ball as much as possible, because when he actually does get his 3 touches per game he tries to do too much because he knows he may never see the ball again. And as big as he is he’s not the holdup front man striker. He needs the ball at his feet. That is his primary option that he is more comfortable with. passing it to the wings and cross after cross, with him fighting against usually 3 center backs is wasting his ability. As a young player with ambition hes completely stifled at this club. I believe that is the same reason de Ligt left, not for lack of touches, but stifling his play. And De Ligt has said as much in interviews post Juve. Back to the game. Bremer has played very well in the left CB spot and for some reason the last few games hes been moved to the right and i think our defense has suffered because of that. Bonnuci didn’t look comfortable at all playing on the left. This game should have been 4-1 atleast. Mbappe missed a sitter, and was also selfish when he could have passed to neymar on the counter for a wide open tap in (their relationship is a mess). Mirreti for the first time this season had a bad game. And as much as i hate Mckennie he was the lone bright spot for this team in the game. But it should be noted that headed goal was more of very poor goalkeeping by donnaruma. PSG looked fluid and drilled with a game plan. We looked like a 1990’s italian team playing park the bus and hoping from some magic from one or two players. Allegri had his time. time to move forward. He doesnt have Prime pirlo, prime vidal, prime marchiso, prime pogba (who is finished in my opinion) in his midfield and prime bonnuci, chellini and barzagli in this team where they all can influence the game. We dont have impactful players on this team sans Vlahovic and Bremer. Name anyone else that a Big club would want as a starter for their club and would pay a large fee for. I think that is also a damning statement about the transfer policy and management beyond Allegri. We keep filling this team with outcasts and stopgaps. As a result of that This current team is a mediocre team. I think best case scenario will be 3rd place in Serie A if they are lucky and zero silverware again.
It’s no secret that certain players are ageing, and Bonucci was never great to begin with – he always had Barzagli, Buffon and Chiellini to cover for his mistakes. Nonetheless, Mr. Alpha Superior Andrew seems to be deploying emotion rather than reason when assessing and analyzing players. Yes, De Shitlio and Fagiot are unworthy of the Juve Jersey – in another era, they would have never laced them up or gone beyond the gates of Vinovo. Bonucci and Cuads have been loyal servants, but this is the last season either of them should be starters, provided we harbor any ambition of returning to the pinnacle of Italian, and, hopefully at some point in the not too distant future, European football. Deal with it!
Matthew and Omar – very well said! Totally agree with your comments. Some people simply have their her buried in the sand – a bit like our Club Directors
