Return of Morata

Chelsea has confirmed the return to training of Alvaro Morata, ahead of the match with Roma. Morata has re-joined his team-mates for training sessions prior to the tantalising Chelsea vs. Roma encounter scheduled for Wednesday evening. Morata sustained an injury to his hamstring during Chelsea’s recent match against Manchester City. Antonio Conte is optimistic that the 24-year old Spaniard will be ready to play in the midweek Champions League game. Recent photos of Morata in training in Cobham have been circulating on Twitter, so let’s hope the youngster is good to go when crunch time arrives.

Antonio Conte spends a sleepless night following surprise loss

The recent 2-1 defeat of Chelsea by Crystal palace, is undoubtedly one of Chelsea’s worst performances during Conte’s reign, and will no doubt give him a few sleepless nights. In the Premier League, Crystal Palace was on a 7-match goal-less losing streak when facing up to Chelsea recently, and should have presented no real threat to the Blues at all. But this latest disaster means the Blues are currently trailing Manchester United by nine points.

Not surprisingly, Conte will be looking for his team to produce something special in their next outing.

Wednesday sees Chelsea face up to Roma, a Champions League match, and although it looks like Alvaro Morata should make the starting line-up, Victor Moses and N’Golo Kante will most likely not.

Chelsea in race to sign up 17-year old prodigy

Youngster Callum Brittain, defender at Milton Keynes Dons (MK Dons) has gained a lot of attention this season. England’s under 21 right-back, assisted in two goals in the recent international match against Italy, resulting in a 5-1 win for England. Brittain was equally impressive in England’s following match against the Czech Republic.

But, by the end of the season, Brittain will be out of contract, and several big clubs in the English leagues are rumoured to be interested in the highly-skilled youngster, Chelsea being one of them, according to the Daily Mail.

Chelsea is struggling to maintain any real winning consistency in the league currently, making defence of its title somewhat more difficult. Languishing in fifth position at the moment, Antonio Conte may well examine Chelsea’s defensive options, with Brittain in mind.

The 17-year old youngster has an uncanny ability to make overlapping sprints into the right flank, a tactic which could prove extremely useful for the Blues. As a young player, Brittain has it all; excellent technical abilities, pace, and agility, honed to perfection playing online games for US players, and would no doubt be a good fit for the Blues in the long-term.
