Juventus have reportedly rejected an offer from Manchester City for Brazilian full-back Alex Sandro.
City had hoped to sign the Brazilian on a free transfer in 2016 when his contract with Porto ended and prepared an offer of €6m per season contract until 2021.
The citizens had the opportunity to watch Sandro first hand in Juve’s 1-0 victory on Wednesday night and it’s reported that they still have an interest in the player.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Premier League side presented an offer of €40m for Sandro but it was immediately dismissed by Juventus director Beppe Marotta.
Alex will be a king! The next Evra.
This is a complete lie. Why would anyone who knows anything about football believe this. Unreal.
Not necessarily. His value has certainly gone up with his performances this season, despite limited playing time. Man City are known over spenders who throw out random sums of money to ensure they get what they want. They rarely enter into auctions, because they just go straight for the player, rather than attempting a better deal. 40m is not in any way outrageous for Man City to throw at Juve in an attempt to get Juve and Sandro to push through a move in January, or as a marketing ploy to make it known they are very interested. If someone said they’d give you 40m for something you know is worth 27-30m, but you wanted to hold onto the asset for longer, wouldn’t you immediately remember the people who threw out a gaudy number first, when ready to cash in?
Not saying City wouldn’t be interested — I’m saying they didn’t put in a bid on the night of their game against Juventus. That didn’t happen.
Hands off, he’s ours!!
