Reports from Italian and Dutch media suggest that Juventus have taken a definitive lead in the race to sign Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt.

The centre-back had reportedly agreed terms over a move to Barcelona which fell through in recent weeks before being linked to Paris Saint-Germain.

Dutch Paper De Telegraaf now report that De Ligt is expected to sign for Juventus, signing a five-year deal which will net him between €15-20m per season while Ajax are expected to earn €70m from the sale.

Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports on similar lines, suggesting that the Bianconeri have made a significant move to sign the 19-year-old, with more details on the offer expected tomorrow.

Di Marzio suggests that positive messages have been received from the player who is ready to say yes to Juventus and the real negotiations will begin this weekend.

For their part, Juve are increasing in confidence as the player has refused offers from PSG and Barcelona.
