Juventus coach Max Allegri believes Juve are now favourites for the Serie A title but believes the race is still open.

The Bianconeri won their 15th match in a row to leapfrog Napoli in the Serie A standings,  having suffered their worst start to the campaign last August.

“Are we the Scudetto favourites? Alright I’ll make you happy. As we are now top of the table, we are the favourites,” Allegri said in his post-match conference.

“Luck is fundamental in life. A friend of mine used to tell me: always hang around with the lucky ones!

“It was a very complicated match. Napoli are a side who play really well and the lads did well to stop them taking the initiative.

“We had the strength and patience to let them pass the ball around. These are tactical games, the kind that need an incident to break the deadlock.

“Gonzalo Higuain is an extraordinary striker, but he was faced with Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci and then Daniele Rugani.

“It was an important victory for the campaign, especially as we kept our distance from third place. I am very happy that we were able to beat a Napoli side that came here on the back of eight consecutive wins.

“I still believe it’ll be an exciting end to the season. Napoli aren’t the only ones challenging for the title, as Inter and Fiorentina will be up there too.

“These have been three very intense months and it was a great achievement to overtake Napoli.”
