Andrea Barzagli is expected to miss Juve’s trip to Benevento this weekend, however Federico Bernardeschi will return to the squad.

Juventus confirmed that the veteran centre-back sustained an injury in the Bianconeri’s crushing 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday, putting him at risk for not only this weekend’s visit to Benevento but next week’s Champions League return leg in Madrid. A statement on the clubs official site confirmed:

“Andrea Barzagli has undergone an MRI scan that has revealed an injury to the oblique muscles of the abdomen. The player has already started rehabilitation and will be re-evaluated in the coming days. Tomorrow morning the team will train again and continue their preparation for Benevento.”

Meanwhile, Bernardeschi returned to take part in his first training session at the weekend having picked up a knee injury in Juve’s 1-0 victory over Torino in February.

The versatile forward is expected to return to the squad for this weekends match with a view to taking part in the match against Real Madrid next week.
