Reports from some Italian papers suggest Juventus have reached an agreement with Liverpool midfielder Emre Can.
The slightly dubious report from Turin based Tuttosport suggests that their German sources say Can is already a Juventus player and that all that’s remaining is to agree a deal with Liverpool for the German international.
As Nemanja Matic looks set to join Manchester United, CorSport report that Can was always the main target for the Bianconeri.
With the 23-year-old’s contract set to expire next summer and no extension agree as yet, the reports suggest that Juve will make a big offer for Can, in the region of €25 – €35m, a player they see as a successor to German midfielder Sami Khedira.
There’s a suggestion that if Juve can’t land their man this summer, they may agree terms so that they might sign him for free in 2018.
Utter bollox and fake news to boot. Tuttosport is the Italian S**.
Can we really not aim for Renato Sanches or just blood Mandragora?
I’m not sure Renato Sanchez is quality, why has he been such a flop for Bayern Munich? we are a team of equal caliber if he flopped with them he can very well flop with us. Also is Renato a DM? that is what we need the most, Someone with a physical presence to help Khedira control the Mid, Renato seems more of a Marchisio/Pjanic Understudy if you ask me(based on the little i have seen).
Let’s blood Mandragora then….
Why pick up these young stars and never give them a chance?
We also don’t need a new CB, Rugani must be allowed to make the position his own…
Also allow Pjaca and Bentacur, even Kean to get reasonable game time and grow!
There are good things and bad things to signing Emre Can:
+ He does have clear potential to reach and probably surpass Khedira someday, though that is mostly displayed in the GMNT than at L’pool
+ Unlike Matuidi and N’zonzi, Can can still grow and vastly improve his form, from what it is now
+ Strong physical presence( at least stronger than what we got in mid) however he is no where near Khedira in terms of strength, or controlling the Midfield.
– As someone who watches Liverpool games every week, i can whole hardheartedly say that Can is not quality enough for Juve, despite finishing the season strong with Liverpool, Can is too volatile a player, constantly riding a roller coaster when it comes to form.
– Can Isn’t a starter that can come in and make an immediate impact, he still has lots to learn, it isn’t clear that Can is much better than Sturaro
– Mental weakness! At the start of the season for L’pool he was beginning to to get outperformed by Marko Grugic, and had no place in the starting 11, being behind Wijnaldum in the sub pecking order, as a result Can did nothing but complain, his form never really improved, It took Grugic’s injury for Can to be a regular sub and then Hendersons injury to later get first time football.
Overall thoughts:
– Honestly we should have gone for Marko Grugic, now that boy is SHEER QUALITY! better at attacking play, and has more stature and strength, however his defensive capabilities are still in question; but then again so are Can’s; as when he shined it was when he moved outfield, not when he was covering Hendo in the DM role.
+ If Can does come, we will have to mold him, and he can turn out to be a great finished product, however it will take time, time I am not sure we have if we want to win the CL this season.
+ In this inflated market 25M-35M is a fair price and well worth the gamble, definitely a better option than Matuidi or Nzonzi(for the price)
While I do like Can as a player, I’m just not sure he elevates us at all, at least for the time being. Give the price tag is $35 million id rather that money be spent upfront. Mandragoa was impressive against Barcelona and I’d love to see him get more playing time. I’m all for brining in young players I just don’t think Can brings anything to the table that’s not already there. Since we got De Sciglio I can’t see the team investing in Cancelo but I’d still love to see that materialize since he can play much further up the pitch.
We should have gone for Marko Grugic instead, I rate him way more than Can, Grugic was very well close to beating Can in the pecking order last season, till his untimely injury came, Now there is the next Khedira if not better! if there ever was one.
Rolando and Rodrigo are both natural talents in the DM role. I was surprised to see Mandragora as had assumed he had been or was about to find himself loaned to a club in the top flight..Verona or back to Genoa.
Of the two Bentancur has more experience at a higher level, and I hope that he is given the chance in the centre of midfield. He fared okay against Barca, yet was not in his natural role, same for Sturaro. Yet the game was not about the result, it was about fitness and a trick here or there…though the two sides clearly share little love.
I keep seeing weird statements of people suggesting we need a RB…where the hell do they think De Sciglio plays? CF?
Suspect Mandragora is heading out, and will be very interesting to see how he blossoms, now fit, and at the higher level.
Can has neither looked amazing or poor when I have seen Livepool on MOTD every week and he has featured. Young, experienced, well thought of…seems a silly punt for 35m when we have two youngsters who excite me more. and fir the role…
We need a RB trust me brother. De Sciglio is not a top class player. Not at all. We need someone like Sandro exactly on the apposite side. Or player like bellerin. What I meant a player in our club level.
Don’t see this as legit news by any stretch, but wouldn’t mind Juve taking a punt on Can. He’s someone who’s obviously got his best years ahead of him and in the right squad, with the right coaching could easily become something quite special, which he’s already shown signs of. It’ll be important to not have him playing as a CB, which he’s absolutely woeful at, but rather continue as a strong DM. Juve would be a perfect place for that, IMO. Some reason I’m doubtful it’ll happen.
PS: Oh yes, Rav! You cannot escape me that easily! I go and make back-up accounts! lol FORZA JUVE
I don’t know why we wait till all great players transfer confirmed and we move super slow to get one of them. Seriously can? Liverpool 3rd choice midfielder. Lol I think we should’ve learned our lesson from cl final that we are weak in Midfield. We need a physically tough, talented Midfielder like Edgar Davids or Patric viera in middle. And I’m sure there is plenty. We just need to spend little bit more money. Also we need a right back immediately. Player like bellerin. Plz Don’t go after 3rd level players.
