Juventus could replace two centre-backs in January

October 17, 2022 - 5:00 pm

Juventus has had a bad season and their defence has not covered itself in glory.

The Bianconeri lost Giorgio Chiellini and Matthijs de Ligt in the last transfer window. However, Federico Gatti and Gleison Bremer joined the squad to keep it competitive.

The latter has been a key presence in the team this term, but Gatti has not proven he can play at the highest level.

Daniele Rugani has been at the club for a while, yet he is still not one of the first names on the team sheet.

The defender is liked by Max Allegri, but he is not getting enough chances.

When he has gotten a chance, he does not show he deserves to play regularly, so the gaffer does not believe in him.

A report on Calciomercato reveals the Bianconeri are now looking to replace him and Gatti when the transfer window reopens.

Several names are on their radar, including Benoît Badiashile and Evan Ndicka.

Juve FC Says

We need the best defenders on our team if we are serious about achieving our goals. Gatti and Rugani are average players, and we cannot trust them to stop the best attackers.

We need to replace them with players who have done it regularly at the highest level.

Gatti have had 2 games, on he looked sollid, one he struggled against a Monza with a new coach who was looking for blood against extremely poor juve. Gatti has a potential fine player in him and to exchange him for another youngster would be madness as Allegri dont develop players.

“Gatti has not proven he can play at the highest level.” This should be properly written as “Gatti has not been allowed to prove himself in the Serie A due to limited chances provided to him by a very limited manager.”
Gatti played a few games for Italy and acquitted himself well. He made one mistake against Monza and has been binned, yet Rugani costs us goals in must-win UCL games and keeps playing in them – go figure!

They can’t give up on Gatti without proper playing time. Rugani has had his chances so do whatever you want. But Gatti has not been afforded the time.

Slowlegri prefers Danilo, a guy who has played as full-back all his career to Gatti…just how clueless can one be…if Gatti is that bad then why buy him in Jan ?

Gatti hasn’t really had a chance, as has been rightly pointed out by others. Rugani has proven to be not quite up to the level expected at the top, but has been kept around all the same. Now, Juve need to add a solid and proven centre-back, someone olde like Koulibaly. This could give them a chance next season to ease Gatti into the team as a long term solution.
