Reports from Spanish, Portuguese and Italian papers claim that Juventus are in talks with Cristiano Ronaldo over a move this summer.

The bizarre story first surfaced in Tuttosport and a few other places but the reports have since gathered steam with the Spanish press now chiming in,

Marca claim that the Bianconeri would be prepared to offer Ronaldo €30m a season, €5m more than Real are currently tabling.

Marca go on to claim that Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli has spoken to Ronaldo several times and an agreement in principle is in place for a 4-year contract with the Portuguese international

Portuguese paper A Bola run with a similar theme, reporting that there has been an admission by Ronaldo that he wants to leave Real Madrid this summer to join Juventus and once again, the salary on offer is in the region of €30m a season.

Ronaldo is reported to have a €1bn release clause in his contract, however it’s reported this could be lowered for a club that isn’t a direct rival.

What to make of this? Well it’s barely worth reporting on, but I thought I’d post it anyway so we could have a good laugh.

Juve emerged from a long period in the doldrums precisely because Beppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici didn’t spend the money Juve didn’t have. The wage structures were put into place, the club invested wisely so as to build a sustainable model for years to come….so of course, it’s entirely plausible that Juve would now blow €120m in transfer fees on a 33-year-old as well as €30m a year in salary because……well, why be logical?
