Juventus ended the 2026 summer transfer window without selling a single first-team player on a permanent deal, marking what was reported as the first such occurrence in the club’s modern era.

The Bianconeri reshaped the squad through nine arrivals and 11 departures instead, with none of the outgoing moves involving a permanent transfer of a senior player.

Nine in, eleven out

Juventus brought in Randal Kolo Muani, Nick Woltemade and Jeff Ekhator to strengthen the centre-forward positions, alongside creative addition Kerim Alajbegovic, midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, defenders Jhon Lucumi and Zeki Celik, and goalkeepers Guglielmo Vicario and Kamil Grabara.

Dusan Vlahovic departed after his contract expired on June 30, while Filip Kostic was released, Mattia Perin moved to Palermo on a free transfer and Arthur Melo had his contract terminated by mutual consent. The remaining seven exits – Lois Openda, Jonathan David, Michele Di Gregorio, Joao Mario, Jonas Rouhi, Vasilije Adzic and Fabio Miretti – all left on loan. Some of those deals included options to buy that will not be activated until 2027, while others were temporary moves.

A modern-era first

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus had not previously gone an entire summer window without a senior sale in the modern era. The closest comparison came in 2023, when Denis Zakaria’s move to Monaco was the only permanent Bianconeri departure of that mercato.

Luciano Spalletti regarded centre-forward reinforcements as particularly urgent following Vlahovic’s free departure. Juventus responded by adding three new options in that area of the squad during the window.

What it means for the squad

The summer’s departures were made up of free exits, a mutually agreed contract termination and seven loan moves rather than permanent sales. Several of the loan arrangements have future decisions still to come, as some include options to buy that cannot be activated until 2027.

Juventus therefore enter the season with three new centre-forwards, one creative outlet, one central midfielder, two defenders and two goalkeepers. Vlahovic’s exit also removed his salary from the club’s books, while the incoming group represents a substantial reshaping of Spalletti’s available squad.
