Bayern Munich have confirmed they have taken up their option to sign Kingsley Coman from Juventus.

Despite reports to the contrary this morning, Bayern have now announced that they will sign the French winger on a permanent basis, exercising their €21m option on the player.

The club released a statement confirming the deal on their official website:

“A crucial agreement was made before Bayern’s match away to Wolfsburg on Saturday. The Bundesliga table-toppers have exercised their option to sign Kingsley Coman from Juventus. The option would have expired at the end of April. The 20-year-old France international, who joined Bayern from Juventus on loan in August 2015, has extended his stay in Munich through 2020.

“Kingsley Coman is a crucial player for the future of our team, so we’ve decided to exercise the option,” commented Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: “Kingsley is a promising player with great potential. We’re convinced he’ll help us in the coming years.”

Coman has penned a deal until 2020 while Juventus have netted approximately €28m from the sale of the player they signed on a free from PSG in 2014.
