Bayern Munich have confirmed they have taken up their option to sign Kingsley Coman from Juventus.
Despite reports to the contrary this morning, Bayern have now announced that they will sign the French winger on a permanent basis, exercising their €21m option on the player.
The club released a statement confirming the deal on their official website:
“A crucial agreement was made before Bayern’s match away to Wolfsburg on Saturday. The Bundesliga table-toppers have exercised their option to sign Kingsley Coman from Juventus. The option would have expired at the end of April. The 20-year-old France international, who joined Bayern from Juventus on loan in August 2015, has extended his stay in Munich through 2020.
“Kingsley Coman is a crucial player for the future of our team, so we’ve decided to exercise the option,” commented Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: “Kingsley is a promising player with great potential. We’re convinced he’ll help us in the coming years.”
Coman has penned a deal until 2020 while Juventus have netted approximately €28m from the sale of the player they signed on a free from PSG in 2014.
Wow! 28 million on a free transfer! Seriously if anyone has doubts about management just look at the track record folks, the best in business without a doubt. This gives us room for future dealings, quite a bit of it. Really hoping the benatia option isn’t exercised, way too much money for an overrated player.
Agreed! But I think we will make the move permanent.. he is good back-up, but quite costly for a back-up. He isnt a starter and shouldnt be one, once Barza retires, his spot should either be gone in the 4man defense system or Rugani should inherit it
I really hope we don’t, benatias best days are behind him. No reason to pay $20 for a backup, in sure rugani gets more time next year. From a strategic standpoint I don’t think we will do it since juventus clearly waited for Bayern to active com and clause first. It’s a chess game and Bayern stood to lose more.
Benatia would do good to move to a Pl team, everyone from: ManC, Liverpool, ManU, Arsenal, and even Spurs and Chelsea are in dire need of quality defenders of Benatia’s Caliber! I really hope we dont Buy him, but i fear we will 🙁
If we do buy Benatia maybe we can use him on the PL teams!
– Liverpool To facilitate the transfer of: Coutinho, TAA, or Mane!
– Arsenal To facilitate the transfer of: Alexis Sanchez,
– RiolaUTD To facilitate the transfer of: Anthoney Martial
– ManCity To facilitate the transfer of: Sane
– Chelsea To facilitate the transfer of: Matic,or Kante
– Spurs To facilitate the transfer of: Delle Alli
Also just a thought! Monaco would do wise to strengthen their defense! if they want to continue being top dogs in the French league , and in Europe, and become a team everyone likes like BvB!!
– Witch means we could use Benatia as a bargaining chip for: Mbappe, Lemar, Bakayoko or Fabinho
Whom would all be great ADDITIONS!!! Not to mention every team mentioned would kill for a defender of Benatia’s caliber!!!
ME!!!!!!! I AM actually one that doubts our management’s judgment! in the purest sense of business, yea this was a great move! however Coman had a whole lot of potential! it is already clear he will turn world class! Right now any PL or German team would sell Coman for 40m+ EASILY! so now we have economics coming into play, and if you look at it from this angle, we also lost 20M+ as our Opportunity cost!
Now all of a sudden what looked good on the surface looks pretty dumb 🙁
If you ask me though, Fuck the good Business deal, or Loss in Opportunity cost, We lost a VERY GOOD Easily foreseeable World class player for Peanuts! :,(
The deal was struck two years ago. You can’t or could not set a 40 million option to buy on a still developing / unproven 18yr old player in 2015. Nobody would have taken him on due to the risk of him not coming good. We got him for nothing. If we have sold cheap it’s a rare event, and born out of circumstances. Some you win, some you lose. Beppe usually wins…But I don’t believe anybody can say 28m profit is shabby.
God bless them!!
Now to make things even nicer we should get douglas costa on a loan with option to buy.
i Really dont like this! We made Peanuts compared to what he would sell for now, Yea it’s good business to buy for free and sell for 10 – 20M however We can’t let that get in the way of talent!!! Coman played very well for Guardiola But perhaps where i saw him shine the most was for France! at least in the euro’s he did!
The sell of Coman can only be a good thing if he is used as a bargaining chip for Costa, but even then, Sanchez would be a better fit for Juve than Costa.altogether, so idk, I’m just sad to see such great talent leave, and especially for 28M when Bayern can turn around and sell him for double, if not further Nurturing him and seeing Coman turn into a force of nature to be reckoned with!!!!!!
Coman would have slotted in perfectly as our LAM 🙁
Why would you want him back? He was not shy in coming forward griping about his time with us, or sad to help Munich beat us in extra time in last year’s ECL. Good riddance. Plus he has a weird shaped face. A freak show. Nor is he a spectacular talent either.
I wasn’t aware of his comments
Mr Quinn i doubt if Coman can defend or even if hell be a star. I seriously doubt they will keep him. I think some epl team have their eyes oh him. Who is his agent ?
Nope not as of Yet, but they are interested in Costa XD, Liverpool are.
