Paul Pogba believes Juventus have to be aggressive in the Champions Final and insists he isn’t leaving Turin any time soon.
Speaking to French newspaper L’Equipe ahead of Saturday’s final, the French midfielder talked about the game against Barcelona while addressing the speculation surrounding his future.
“It’s a dream come true,” Pogba told the French daily.
“We all know how Barça play, they have the best attack in the world. You can do all the tactical preparation in the world, but that’s not what will win you the game.
“We’ll need to be aggressive, and maybe have a little luck. We know we’re not favourites, but we’ll give everything. It’s a final, you never know.
“Messi is Messi, he’s probably the best player in the world at the moment. We know Barça are a great team, the best in the world, but we’re in a final and we have nothing to lose.”
Barcelona are among the teams linked with a move for the midfielder but Pogba was adamant his future is at Juventus.
“People can believe what they want. For me, this is a final, a huge game, I’m focused on that and nothing else. I’ve never said this will be my last match for Juventus.
“I’m very happy here, and it brings me a lot of pleasure. I’m in the final of the Champions League, I’ve always wanted to play these kind of games.
“Would I like to play with Messi one day? I don’t know.”
Despite scoring 10 goals this season, the 22-year-old has struggled at times since a return from injury and was warned by Juve coach Max Allegri about his antics on the pitch.
“I’ve recovered well,” Pogba said.
“I feel much better than in the first three matches.
“Allegri’s words? I take them as advice, I have to be focused for the whole match. It’s the way I am, it’s not showing off, it’s just the way I play my football, but what the Coach said is true.
“It’s always been that way with all my Coaches. I don’t do it on purpose, but sometimes I have to release a little bit, it’s me, it’s the person.
“When I hear that it wakes me up a little bit, it makes me open my eyes. I want to prove that what people say or think is wrong.
“Will I play differently against Barça? No, I always play my football, sometimes it comes off and sometimes it doesn’t, I just need more concentration.
“If I play against Barça, since it’s a final, my concentration will be at 100 per cent for 90 minutes.”
Man, Pogba is a classy young fellow, proud to have him in the squad, i don’t like the idea of selling pogba to real madrid or barca. If we wish to be in the top 4 in europe for a long time i don’t think it is a good idea to make our rivals even stronger.
On another subject i wanted to ask if somebody could explain what’s the deal with the financial fair play, i don’t understand it but imho if teams are able to offer 20 mill. on annual salaries then the FFP doesn’t work for shit! I heard that the NBA has a total salary limit for every team, that seems like a very good idea, it keeps from having a team signing all the big stars. Peace Bianconeri brothers! Let’s not be nervous on Saturday, let’s enjoy and savour the moment whatever happens, these are the good times!
The thing with FFP is that a club isn’t allowed to spend more than it earns. Say you’ve earned 100 mill last season, that means you can’t spend more than a 100 mill on new players. You can sell players to raise more funds, say sell one for 10mill, then you can spend 110mill.
The idea was to remove the power of (future) sugardaddies arriving in a club, spending a shitload of money to turn it in a superclub and making a lot of money out of it in the long term.
I also hope Pogba stays right here, he’s a class act and a great player!
thanks for the info brother!
That seems to cover one problem, i still think that teams being able to offer more than 10 mill. per year to half of its rooster is something that needs to be changed, putting a limit on the annual salary budget sounds like a great idea to me.
You’re welcome mate. Yeah it isn’t a waterproof tactic (yet), but enforcing a salary cap isn’t something fifa or uefa can do I think. Clubs decide what they pay their players, whatever how high or low the salary.
Also FFP can handicap the smaller clubs, so there is definitely still a lot of work to make it work as intended to do
I don’t know all too much about it and i know a shitload (srsly a SHITLOAD) of money goes around in the NBA, but player wise and team wise it’s organised much better than the football world. No team can own all the super stars, like Madrid and Barca are trying to accomplish, Bayern in the Bundesliga too, and the worst team of the previous year can pick first from all the talents (if they play it smart that is). Like i said i don’t know too much about this stuff, and i don’t know how this is really possible in football since the NBA is only one country.
