Juventus director Beppe Marotta has confirmed the reasons for Arturo Vidal’s departure while admitting that Mario Gotze ‘suits’ Juventus.

Speaking at a press conference earlier today, Marotta confirmed that Arturo Vidal asked to leave the club and also addressed the speculation about Juve’s interest in Mario Gotze and others.

“We’ve always said we won’t sell players unless the players indicate that’s what they want,” Marotta told the Press conference.

“That’s how it was. Tevez asked to return home to Argentina. Pirlo made some assessments, and decided he wanted a new experience.

“Ogbonna asked for opportunity and consistency in playing time, and as for Vidal I asked him before I went to meet the Bayern Munich leadership.

“He confirmed he wanted a different experience. I’d also emphasise that the player had a contract ending in 2017, while they’re offering him a five-year contract, and that’s very important for his future.

“We’re not a selling club, we’re attentive to those who can increase our quality level.”

Turning his attention to Paul Pogba, Marotta offered some assurances about the French midfielders future.

“Obviously a he’s a player who we really believe in. He’s a young player who has developed here, who has shown great respect and considers this his natural habitat.

“We’re in the position where we’ll listen to interest from other clubs, as we have done this window. We didn’t sit down with anyone to start a negotiation, because we believe Pogba is an important part of our team.

“In the event he says he’s not happy to continue his adventure with Juventus, we might look at some offers.

“At the moment that hasn’t happened.”

Marotta went on to discuss the address the speculation surrounding a move for Mario Gotze.

“We’re looking for someone with certain characteristics,” Marotta admitted in a Press conference.

“Gotze definitely fits that profile, but he’s a Bayern Munich player, so we haven’t held any concrete talks.

“Clearly in our business you also have to look at players, so I can only give my analysis based on that, given that Bayern Munich are reportedly happy [to keep him].

“If the club or the player make it clear they want a different experience, then we’ll be the first to seek more concrete talks, and see whether we can reach a deal.

“Relations between the clubs are good.”

Juve are also reported to be in the market for a new full-back, and Porto’s Alex Sandro has been mentioned by a few Italian papers as a possible option.

“Alex Sandro is another interesting player,” Marotta told the press.

“I’m sure all the top clubs are looking at him. We’ve only noticed his great qualities, we haven’t started a negotiation.

“He’s a good player, I’ll limit myself to that.”
