Andrea Pirlo is expected to sit on the Juventus U23 bench next season, despite joking that he is waiting for Barcelona to call him.

The former Juventus midfielder enrolled on the UEFA Pro Licence courses at Coverciano in 2019 and was expected to watch Bianconeri coach Maurizio Sarri at some point in the 2019/20 season.

Corriere dello Sport report that Pirlo is expected to manage Juve’s U23 squad next season, an idea that has been formulating for some time at Continassa, despite the season coming to a halt for now.

Speaking on an Instagram live, Pirlo joked that he was waiting for his first choice, Barcelona:

“Will I train Juve U23? No. I have a lot of requests. Seriously, I already have the staff ready because maybe from abroad they called me first. Barcelona is waiting for me. I don’t want to miss the first choice, I’ve already had some offers. “
