Former Juventus players Gianluigi Buffon and Stephan Lichsteiner have backed the Bianconeri for success this season.

The duo both left Italy this summer following lengthy spells in Turin and believe Juve will have a strong season.

Speaking to Sky Sport, Lichtsteiner expressed his hopes for Juventus to finally find European success.

“I hope Juventus win the Champions League, they deserve it after two losing two Finals.

“Ronaldo? I don’t regret leaving because that was what I wanted. I wanted a new challenge. Anyone would be happy to join Juventus, but now it’s Arsenal who count.”

Buffon expressed similar sentiments speaking to Sky Italia and singled out Ronaldo for individual praise.

“I hope Ronaldo can give what he’s given for all the teams he played in.

“Certainly he won’t give Juventus the sorrows he’s given us in recent years… Juventus can’t spring any surprises: they have a skilled board and President, plus their history, team and fans are so great that if it they don’t win, they go close.”
