Matthijs de Ligt says it’s “an honour” to be linked with Juventus following reports in the Italian media that a deal for him to join the Bianconeri is close to being completed.

The Ajax defender has been closely linked with a move to Turin following reports from Sky Sport Italia that he had a tour of the Juventus Stadium.

Premium Sport also report that a deal is close to being completed and that De Ligt met with Pavel Nedved and Fabio Paratici while playing for Holland in a friendly at the Juventus Stadium

De Ligt was asked about his future and the possibility of a move to Juventus in the summer.

“Obviously I’m only here for the national team and that was the important thing,” he told reporters.

“Of course it’s an honour to be linked with such a big club, but it’s important for me to play as normal and not think about it.

“The stadium? Today was a national team match and I was playing away from home, so I don’t know how it would be playing as the home team.

“It’s a wonderful stadium though, and Turin is a beautiful city too.

“Juventus is a club with great history and above all many trophies in their cabinet, as well as many excellent players.

“Mino Raiola? He’s not tied to Juventus, he has many interests! I think if it were so close he’d have told me.

“My dream was always to play for Ajax and I achieved it, now I have to decide what’s best for my career.”
