James Rodriguez’s father believes his son would be making ‘a good decision’ to reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus.

The 27-year-old left Real Madrid on loan to join Bayern Munich two summers ago and despite having a strong impact in Germany, it looks like he will return to Real Madrid in the summer.

Bayern are not expected to exercise their €47m option to buy James this summer, and his father Wilson believes Juventus would be a good fit for his son.

“He’s received many offers,” he told Bild. “Juventus? He’s very close to Cristiano Ronaldo. For how I see Italian football, going to Juventus would be a good decision.”

Rodriguez has said himself that he’s unlikely to remain in Germany beyond the summer:

“It is a different situation to last season, we are not competing for as much with the new coach and so we cannot promise as much,” said James recently.

“If I have to go because I am not playing then I will go. You know that I want to stay because I feel the love of the fans and all the Bayern family.”

Reports from Marca also suggest that James has already told Bayern he will leave once his loan ends:

James has already told Bayern that he prefers not to continue there next season. However, he is aware that the club has the last word, as that is the deal that was signed. If the Bavarian entity decides to execute the purchase option before June 15, it will pay the 42 million euros and then the Colombian must stay. (Marca)
