Juventus players featured heavily in the Gran Gala’ del Calcio team of the year while Max Allegri won Serie A Coach of the Year Award for 2017-18.

The ceremony took place in Milan last evening and the awards are voted for by players.

Juve coach Allegri received the Best Coach award having won the Scudetto-Coppa Italia double for 2017/18.

“This is a wonderful evening and I thank everyone who works with me every day, especially the players,” said Allegri.

“It’s a group of great men, with a great club behind us. I am fortunate to have worked with so many marvellous players and tonight I see the Maestro Andrea Pirlo too. It has been truly an honour to work with all of them.

“Ronaldo makes an impact because he brought professionalism, competitiveness and is a humble guy.”

Pavel Nedved accepted Juve’s award for team of the year and expressed his pride at winning the prize.

“It is a matter of pride to be at the Gran Galà of football and everyone at Juventus must be proud of what we achieved last season.

“The first part of the current one is going well, and we know this because we are breaking record after record. They are pleasing to achieve but they are not important, what matters is to raise the trophies at the end of the season.

“Juve-Inter already decisive cannnot be a decisive match on the 15th matchday, but it is an important fixture and we want to be ready.

“The season won’t be over for a while yet because there is still a long way to go.”

The team of the year featured four Juventus players, two from Lazio, two former Roma figures, with Inter and Napoli also represented.

Joao Cancelo made the team for his season with Inter while Giorgio Chiellini, Alex Sandro, Miralem Pjanic and Paulo Dybala also featured in the team.
