Reports in Italy suggest Juventus may be lining up a bid for Roma’s Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman.
The Bianconeri seem no closer to signing a midfielder despite being linked with Steven N’Zonzi, Blaise Matuidi, Emre Can and a host of others.
The latest name on the list is reportedly Roma’s Strootman who had a release clause of €45m which expired as of 31st July.
Tuttosport report that Roma are looking for a figure close to €45m while Juve have offered €30m, a bid that’s being considered by the Giallorossi.
Despite Roma’s hefty asking price, Tuttosport report Juventus won’t go beyond €30m for Strootman, despite the player being high on the list of targets for Marotta and Paratici.
The story of the release clause doesn’t make any sense so I assume it’s tripe.
He signed a new contract barely a few months back. For them to give him a pay rise, lengthier contract and yet a min release clause for barely two months of a multiple year contract is far fetched. Or monchi is a fool when I do not believe.
I’d take him for 45…but not sure if he fancies leaving Rome. How attached to the club, who stuck by him through hard times, is he?
I saw that you mentioned Sturaro as a possible DM in another post. I wouldn’t mind him playing there. Do you think he can make it his spot and shine?
Because as time ticks away we seem less likely to sign a DM that can make a huge difference. Getting Strootman doesn’t seem likely, purchasing N’Zonzi for 40M doesn’t seem that likely. If we get Emre Can I don’t know how capable he would be? Matuidi for more than 15M seems like a waste of money. I don’t even know if Marotta and the crew are looking into the possibility of landing Grzegorz Krychowiak from PSG? But I for one wouldn’t mind that at all. He got the muscle and spirit for it. I have surely missed some possible players, but if we sell Rincon and doesn’t sign a new DM, the only realistic move would be to put Sturaro in a DM position.
technically and tactically , sturaro is total disaster tbh.so im not sure he would handle it.
You strike me as a chap who has been watching Juve for a fair few years, VK…and so I assume you saw Sturaro when he was more often playing in a central midfield trio, usually in the old Vidal RCM role. Yet now and then more central. He was strong, fine technically, seemed a real raw talent in the box to box role. He was fine in 2015 and 2016. Absolutely superb in the 1-0 win over Roma last December.
Injuries have bothered him, curtailed his development, but I find it…curious…that others deem him a terrible player. When he has clearly proven he is valuable. Playing as a left winger, yes he has been poor. Yet he is a gritty central midfielder, not at all accustomed to wing play. Its a completely different role and skillset.
I feel he could be useful as a box to box midfielder in a midfield 3 on the right, not as a first XI, unless he came in, had a few games and looked impressive, more as a squad player. He has more pace and grinta than Sami, a better engine and throws himself in front of everything. Still young enough to improve, I hope he stays.
Marchisio is the obvious DM. He was playing there regularly before his injury. I would be happy to see Stefano deputise there and a RCM position.
I also remember him putting in a strong performance against Bayern in the home game, when we were down 0-2, and if I am not mistaken he scored the equalizer.
He certainly has a lot of heart, works hard and tries, but as Xx RforcE xX mentioned, his technical skills could use a lot of work. Still he is young, and he along with his agent and family are surely discussing whether he should stay and fight for a spot or seek first time football some other place. The WC is around the corner and he along with the others naturally want to feature in the competition. If he stays will it be on his terms or will Allegri keep on playing him off position?
Marchisio in a DM position, could work. He has the mind and passing skills, but as you mentioned earlier. He lacks the muscle and grinta. Then it’s the question, if we do bring in a DM. Will that mean that this new DM, Marchisio and Sami will rotate on the two remaining central midfield spots, alongside Pjanic?
As I outlined my friend…I do not agree in the slightest that he is technically woeful. He can appear poor when played as a LW, that is obvious, but in his natural role he has proven decent.
I feel Marchisio would be as good there as he was on the past, yet solely in a central trio. Yet we now have a plethora of options, competition will be high and someone will miss out. Clearly Dybala and Higuain seem certain starters. Not sure how long Max will wait to place Costa in the first XI or Bernardeschi, hopefully not too long, but how can they all fit together?
Buffon
De Sciglio Benatia Rugani Sandro
Khedira Marchisio Bentancur
Dybala
Higuain Costa
No chance on that however…Yet, each player is in close enough to his best role, or proven competence.
Khedira is not great defensively, he works on physical more than intelligence at the back. Pjanic will always play, Max loves hie creativity. Costa can play wider…happy higher up top.
I really don’t know. Probably stick to the 4-2-3-1 which I do not like without a beastly DM. Failing which I suppose>
Pjanic Marchiso
Bernardeschi Dybala Costa
Higuain
A lot of work for Marchisio to do, and yet Bernardeschi works extremely hard so he can come back and help out so it would look more like a 4-3-3.
Yes, I believe un that season Sturaro Washington being groomed ti become the Nextel Gatusso forma team ando country. WhatsApp happened?
to be honest Matic was the player I liked most, Matuidi, Nzonzi Strootman, Can, … none of them I like and certainly not if we have to pay an amount in the area of 30-40M…actually I would like to have Renato Sanchez, we have good relations with Bayern, so why not? He is a raw talent, a little bit to raw, and running all over the pitch without no brain. But he is physically really present and that’s what I thought we are searching, no?
