Juventus could look to sign a new defender if Benedikt Howedes doesn’t make a permanent move to Turin with Arsenal centre back Shkodran Mustafi top of the list.

The Bianconeri are reportedly looking for a long-term addition to the back-line as it looks ever more likely that Howedes’ move won’t be made permanent. The German international has only made one appearance for Juventus all season and is out of action until 2018.

RAI Sport report that Mustafi is one of Juve’s main targets, despite having already had a bid for him rejected by Arsenal.

Juventus are also reportedly looking to refit other parts of the back-line, given that Stephan Lichtsteiner and Kwadwo Asamoah are both out of contract next summer.

RAI report that Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian, Paris Saint-Germain’s Thomas Meunier and Hoffenheim’s Pavel Kadeřábek are all candidates for the right-back position.

Asamoah is not expected to be offered a contract renewal meaning Leonardo Spinazzola’s return will be all the more important. Alongside the Juventus youth product, the Bianconeri are also looking at Valencia’s José Gayà and Porto’s Alex Telles as possible additions to the squad.
