Patrice Evra, Sami Khedira, Hernanes, Martin Caceres, Kwadwo Asamoah and Roberto Pereyra are all set to miss Juve’s Champions League clash against Man City.
The Bianconeri face Manchester City on Wednesday night but will be without a host of first team players for the all important match.
Roberto Pereyra and Kwadwo Asamoah are both already facing lengthy spells on the sidelines while Juve confirmed via a statement on their website that Khedira “will train separately next week,” meaning it’s highly unlikely that he’ll be fit for the City game.
Hernanes was suspended for the match but it’s been confirmed that he is also injured along with Caceres and Evra who suffered an ankle sprain in Juve’s 1-0 victory over AC Milan.
“His [Evra’s] condition will be monitored over the course of the coming days.
“Also on the sidelines was Hernanes, who reported discomfort in his adductor muscle and will undergo tests tomorrow.
“Finally, Martin Caceres’ condition will continue to be assessed on a daily basis as he bids to shake off a thigh strain.”
I don’t really mind Evra being unavailable, it means Sandro will play a game from the start, finally. Evra is good, but Sandro should get some more minutes too, even if it’s CL against City.
The only loss here imo is Khedira, he really brings something to this midfield. I hope Lemina takes his position and we should be good again. Missing Hernanes is more of a blessing than a disaster.
Asamoah, caceres and pereyra have been out for so long by now, it’s really a shame. Especially Asamoah, I miss him on the field. Looks like Caceres will be gone after this season, he has hardly been fit or available and his contract expires after this season, I don’t see him extending.
Anyway, against City I hope to see Morata and Dybala up front and Lemina starting too. Sandro is pretty much a guarantee after a good game against Milan and Evra’s injury.
I’d love to see Rugani too, but we all know he isn’t going to get any time. And it’s frustrating as fuck.
I would almost want Barzagli to leave Juve or to see Chiellini get injured or something, just so rugani could get a chance. And that is so fucked up.
There is no point in bringing in young talents like Lemina, Sandro, Dybala, Morata, Rugani and so on, if they just don’t get to play or they play every once in a while.
Meanwhile fuckfaces like Padoin, Hernanes, Mandzukic get to play far more than those youngsters.
There is something wrong about the whole Italian mentality about young players. I know this isn’t exactly a newsflash, it’s becoming a rant so I’ll quit here.
Lets just continue this trend of being frustrated about all this and hope for better things to come…
Sometimes I am just so pissed at Allegri for the selections. I read rumours linking Rugani away from Juve everyday with names like Man Utd and Arsenal, not to mention those SerieA clubs like Fiorentina and Napoli. Rugani is not a freshman to SerieA. Runagi probably played more than last season alone than the entire time Padoin with Juve. All the big clubs nowadays need good defenders and they are so hard to come by. Yet Allegri doesn’t seem to give a damn. Juve managment must retain Rugani at all cost!
Juve is only willing to let him go on loan, they dont intend to sell at all. But if Rugani doesnt get to play at all, I worry he might want to leave. Hopefully that isnt and wont be the case
I don’t want to see Rugani against City. Not because of him, but because Allegri hasn’t given him any play time. This is not the moment to start doing it. We have 3 excellent experienced CB’s, we’re fine. Rugani needs to play Serie A games. The saying goes, don’t change a winning team, and this defence won 4 scudetti in a row, Barzagli is still showing world class, Chiellini and Bonucci too but they do dumb things sometimes, it’s a hard one to be honest. But yeah start Rugani in small Serie A games atleast, or Coppa games.
Mandzukic has been a world class striker, he has shown a glimpse of that in our matches, anything can happen with him on the field. I think Dybala will keep playing now that he’s winning us matches. Morata has been inconsistent. I do agree about starting Dybala and Morata against City, Morata scored the 1-2 in Manchester.
Also, Caceres was playing for Uruguay in the international break, what happened? Did he get injured again?
What should Juve do with Evra? He’s been doing well, but has trouble with his age, Sandro is the better option now, but should we sell Evra to a club where he can play or should we keep him as 2nd choice? This is ofcourse from the fans opinion. Allegri will probably put him as first choice again when he’s fit.
Yeah he shouldnt play against City but in Serie A he is up for any game, big ones too. He needs to get some time, this rotting on the bench isnt helping anyone..
I was against Mandzukic from the beginning and I havent seen anything yet that convinced me otherwise. Morata is being played wrong, he is not a winger, I dont get why Allegri keeps using him on the left.
Yeah Caceres got injured to the thigh again.
In my opinion keep Evra around, but he and Sandro should get to play about the same amount of time. Not just Sandro whenever Evra is unavailable
Seems a certainty that both Morata and Cuadrado will feature as both started from the bench against Milan. Most likely a 4-3-3 with Morata again wing forward on the left. Sturaro to continue in the middle in place of Khedira. Sandro and Bonucci in for Evra and Barzagli. Only misty area is who will be dropped of Dybala and Mandzukic. I suspect it will be Dybala, Allegri preferring the big man to batter the City defence. I hope I am wrong there.
City were extremely poor at the weekend. Could not deal with the constant pressure of Klopp’s pressing game for Liverpool. Also, their defensive system, in absence of Kompany, was appalling. Its great news for us that Kompany (and Silva) remain injured. Not so encouraging to see Aguero hit the ground running, yet he had but the one chance, so is some way from full match sharpness.
Buffon
Lichsteiner Bonucci Chiellini Sandro
Sturaro Marchisio Pogba
Cuadrado Mandzukic Morata.
We really need to go for the victory in this game. To sit deep and play with ‘a draw is useful’ in mind, is too dangerous a tactic. Still, its obviously worth considering that Seville have to beat Monchengladbach to have any chance of catching us. A draw or loss for the spaniards and we are through. However, if they win, and we gain just the point against City, we will find ourselves heading to Seville in our last game knowing if we lose by more than two goals we are out. If we lose by 2 goals then other factors come into play such as goals scored away from home. It gets messy.
In short, we need to win to ensure qualification with a game to spare.
Evra is extremely experienced and a natural leader. He is valuable both on and off the pitch. Its a shame that Sandro has had to wait for his chances, but if he continues to do well when selected and coming off the bench, Allegri will be forced to offer him a starting role. Whilst we are still weathering the storm of our awful start to the season, the manager is relying on the experienced rather than rolling the dice of eagerness of the new recruits. Perhaps once all are fit and he has a better idea of how to play in the final third we will see a little more of Sandro and of course Rugani. Until which, patience is the key for us all.
Cant agree more on this whole comment. One can only upvote so much.
I hope he just puts morata on the middel and Dybala on the left. Its only logic to do so.
But that line up seems the most likely, unfortunately
It’s easy to go for the draw and be safe in 2nd, but we are last years finalists, we need to go for first place. If we win here we have that in our own hands. It’s a way to avoid Barca and Bayern in the second round, who i think would slaughter us at this moment.
any predictions on our line up against man city?
I guess 4-3-3 or 3-5-2, since there is no Hernanes. Depends on whether or not Cuadrado will play. And after that, pretty much the regulars. Buffon as goalie, lichtsteiner Bonucci chiellini and Sandro, plus Barzagli if its a 3man defense.
Midfield will be Pogba and Marchisio with Sturaro or Lemina
Hoping in attack for Dybala and Morata, I think it is a likely duo. Depending on Cuadrado it will be a trident or a 2 striker system.
