Former Juventus striker Luca Toni believes the Bianconeri should sign Gabriel Jesus to compliment Cristiano Ronaldo.

Juve are reportedly in the market for a new striker this summer and while they’ve been linked with a number of Europe’s elite forwards, Toni believes Gonzalo Higuain still has something to offer.

“Higuain remains one of the best of his kind, but compared to his time at Napoli, he has changed,” Toni told Tuttosport.

“He scores less, but he also contributes more for the benefit of the team.

“Harry Kane? He’s a true centre forward, who fills the area like few others. He is technical, a good team player and above all, he’s lethal inside the last few metres.

“He scores a lot, and by being only 26 years old, he still has room for improvement.

“Icardi? He’s a bit behind. If Kane is a nine, Icardi is eight. The PSG striker is the same age as the Englishman and is a great finisher too, but he is less complete right now. He must improve his team game.

“Having said that, the experience of sharing an attack with stars like Neymar and Mbappe will certainly have improved Icardi.

“Gabriel Jesus is an eight and a half, Haaland a seven and a half, Werner seven. It’s true that the latter is a Germany international and is the revelation of Leipzig who advanced to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

“But he has a lot to demonstrate compared to Kane or Icardi. Haaland is a very strong player, he has had a great impact on Europe and continues to score a lot of goals for Borussia Dortmund, just like he did at RB Salzburg.

“But for a young man, it’s not important to know how good he is now, but rather the progress he will make over the next three years. If he grows at this rate, we will see a great centre-forward.

“Gabriel Jesus is fast, technical, provides assists. Of these strikers mentioned, the Brazilian from Manchester City is the least striker, however.

“But he would be the most suitable to play with Cristiano Ronaldo because CR7 is not a pure centre forward, but he is the one who scores the most and must score the most goals.

“A striker that’s too much a striker, like Kane, who I think is the best of the players under 30, is not necessarily a wonderful match for Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I see Gabriel Jesus as much better. He scores at City but also makes a lot of assists, opens space for his teammates, presses and he is only 22 years old.”
