Beppe Marotta believes Javier Mascherano and Dani Alves are ‘champions who could make the difference’ but can’t ‘confirm or deny’ reports linking them with the Bianconeri.
A number of reports in the Spanish and Italian press claimed Juventus had a two-year deal in place for Alves and that Mascherano could also join the club.
“Dani Alves? We’re talking about an important player, but he isn’t our property. We’ll see what we can do.” Marotta told Tuttomercatoweb.
“Mascherano? These are media situations, but we don’t want to sell anyone from our defence unless Caceres leaves on a free transfer.
“At the moment, though, we haven’t done anything, I can’t confirm or deny it. And the same goes for Gomes and Pjanic.
“La Liga is the league that best represents European football.
“It seems like a poor game, as we only talk about three teams, but their ranking improves thanks to their values on the pitch.
“Speaking of Barcelona and Real Madrid, you’re talking about champions who could make the difference in our game and be important.”
Curious from Beppe, who is normally inclined to say ‘no’ immediately when there’s no truth to the rumours. He is known for always speaking truthfully on these matters so refusing to deny or confirm must imply there’s something happening behind the scenes- On the plus side, it means the wheels are in motion and whoile the other ‘big’ clubs are busy announcing signings, we are working towards ours
Alves’ agent:
It’s true that Juventus have contacted me. But there hasn’t been any official offer from the Bianconeri. There’s an interest in Dani and obviously Juve aren’t the only club that are following him attentively. The clause? I can’t reveal the details of the agreement with Barcelona, that’s confidential.Anything could happen, absolutely.”
Deny the fuck out of it Beppe! Act wisely and go for (preferably both) De Sciglio/Vrsaljko!
what would be your worst case mercato guys?
Worst case scenario is we lose Morata and Pogba, tho the latter one does not appear to be likely (fingers crossed). I hope we don’t end up in another Draxler end of transfer window saga just to settle for a much more underwhelming choice like Hernanes. Having said that, Berardi appears to be a done deal. He may develop into a tranquerista if given the opportunity, but I prefer that we utilize him similarly to how Sassuolo has; up front or right wing. We need a world class tranquerista, not a cast-off like Gotze.
Everything else appeara to be falling into place. Alves acquisition will be similar to that of Evra in the short run. It allows Marrota to focus on improving the middle and delays having to find a more permanent replacement for Forest Gump by a year or two. Granted, not a fan of his antics, but he does have a championship pedigree.
Missing out on Berardi.
Losing Morata, Dybala, Pogba.
Replace Zaza with Pelle.
Padoin extends.
Bonucci sold.
Spend on the wrong players.
Wrong = old, overpriced, diva’s.
Yes I am looking at Alves and Mascherano. They might be at a good level still, I dont like them.
I’d rather have a statue of the 5 times champion Padoin somewhere around the stadium than having Alves signed.
Even if they located it in the middle of the pitch!
Absolutely! And make it 25 meters tall! With some sort of stage elevator, raising it at half time in the center circle.
With fireworks fired from his eyes! Glorious!
