chillll!
Juve on the front foot early on
god damn. khedira injured already
Freak goal
wow. now a red card. well, just a friendly, but i hope khedira is okay
I wonder how Juve will play in the supercoppa. Hopefully better than this..
Juve are not looking good, but it is probably because of lack of fitness and chemistry. I’m most concerned about the defense. Chiellini and Barzagli’s absence will hurt. Caceres looks bad and Rugani needs more games under his belt. Hopefully Juve will play more conservatively and with discipline in games that really matter.
Juve never try hard in friendlies. I have only seen 1 half of our 3 friendlies, but this is based on the last couple of years. If you had to judge us on our friendlies last season we’d finish in 10th in Serie A and be knocked out in the group stage of the CL.
Khedira is a bum … No wonder we got him on a free.
Yeah, that 12m Napoli spent on Allan is even more of a steal now that Sturaro and Padoin may get to start in midfield. Hopefully we buy an attacking mid and Pereyra doesnt get stuck there so he can cover in midfield.
I have faith in this team and I still see good things … but I am worried. Like I said before, losing Pirlo and Tevez could be mitigated, but the loss of Vidal is huge if he isn’t replaced with a player who brings the same high level dynamic .. If we stay status quo, then by no means is the Scudetto a lock … Perhaps even Top 3 in the league could be at risk.
I also have a little concern with the recent behaviour of Morata and I don’t think that episode should be over looked. Without the presence of Pirlo or Vidal and Tevez, I hope we don’t get into an issue whereby younger players, or any player for that matter, exhibits behaviour that isn’t conducive to the Juventus way .. When guys like Pirlo and Vidal are around, they keep guys in check with their presence alone .. They don’t dare fuck around ..
We still have Buffon Chiellini and Bonucci. I think those are scary enough for the young guys.
I also think the one to replace Vidal should be Pereyra and think he is able to become useful. Midfield should be Marchisio Pogba and Pereyra. Khedira bench.
dont forget ASA, but otherwise you are right Marchisio Pogba Pereyra look good, pereyra is no way AM, lacks trickery , vision …etc
True. It’s easy to forget him since he was out for like the whole year. I do wonder how Allegri will fit him in if he’s completely back though.
I’ll also never understand why there was never more of a push by Juventus to buy Darmian .. He’s exactly what we’ve needed for a while, he’s Italian and he plays for the Nazionale… He was reasonable priced at about 20 million …. I don’t get it. I really don’t.
Maybe torino juve rivallery
Just wait
Kind of early to judge Khedira, no? Hopefully he’ll be fit during the season
Funny how a lot of people wanted to sell Vidal after his injury because of his shitty form, and now that he’s gone everyone is so concerned about losing him.
I still think we should just get a proper left back and use Asamoah on the midfield.
I watched a 30 minute highlight version of our Dortmund away game few days ago (was on tv), Vidal played great in that match. It was after his injury. I think this was the turn around of his form. It is a big loss, but i’m not worried about it. I think we can take it.
I think we can take it too. The only games we might miss it are CL games probably.
Dunno, I never wanted Vidal gone. Financially yeah it was a good deal I guess, but we’ll feel the difference on the field.
I also really want a good LB
I’ve never wanted him to leave either, but if he wanted to, he had to be sold. I meant people’s opinion in general.
Hopefully Sturaro steps up his game and makes us forget about Vidal this year.
Yeah if he doesn’t want to be here then fuck off honestly. I like him, but him asking to leave, that kinda hurts.
Also hoping on Sturaro to be the new Vidal, at least in the long term. He has the makings to become a Vidal/new Gattuso, let’s hope he makes it
—-Striker/Zaza-Berardi———–
————-Dybala——————-
Pogba/Verratti-Marchisio-Sturaro
——LB-Chiello-Bono-RB———
GK/Neto
This is Juve team I want to see. LB/RB very tough to decide what they can/will be. Also Berardi, Dybala, (Striker type) could be amazing at the top. Going from dybala at trequartista to a 2 wing system seamlessly. They would have freedom to play as the situation plays out. Free roaming between the roles.
What’s “GK/Neto” supposed to mean? Aren’t you forgetting someone? 😛
Leali is great too.
Buffon is there until he wins CL and retires 🙂
I was referring to Buffon. I can’t even imagine the team without him.
So Buffon will still be with us in 2045?
Buffon has said he still wants to play the euro for Italy and probably the 2018 world cup aswell. So untill that time he will still be with us as first GK. His form is still amazing.
Its actually crazy how he is still so good. I was talking to a friend who is an EPL fan and he was saying how Neur is so much better and I tried to tell him otherwise but he just kept saying that Buffon is old and all that stupid stuff. He even had the nerve to say that Buffon in his prime still isn’t as good as neuer…Thats when I stopped talking to him bc there was no point
Haha xd Yeah Buffon tends to get underrated big time. You live in USA right?
Yeah so a lot people here actually think that a team like chelsea is a huge club. I guess they are now but they have no history. Almost everyone only watches the EPL which can be frustrating a lot of times
Haha. Well the EPL is one of my favorite leagues, so i’m not gonna argue, but following football means following more leagues than one. If they think Chelsea and Man City are the biggest teams in the EPL, just ignore them and walk away. You’re better off without ppl like that. Not knowing the greatness of Man United and Liverpool and the invincible Arsenal, i’d even feel sorry for them.
In USA most people didn’t even know who Buffon was in his prime and most likely have never seen him play. If we talk about Buffon in his prime vs Neuer in his prime, my heart obviously says Buffon, but my head says, don’t chose. They are both too amazing at their best, it would be insulting to pick one.
Yes Stefano will. Afraid that Coman leaves us.
The problem with losing him is compounding. Losing Tevez and Vidal could be mitigated, but compounding the loss on top of those two leaving and yes … It’s a problem. If we still had either of Tevez or Pirlo on the team, the hit wouldn’t be as bad .. But all 3, yes, we’re going to feel that loss as they are arguably our 3 best players overall the last couple of years, arguments can be made for Pogba being in the group are warranted of course..
The Scudetto is no longer a lock this year – Top 3 should be their aim. We could be in trouble.
Plus, I’m done with Chiellini and looking forward to phasing him out at some point .. Our D is shaky right now and I’m not happy with it. Still can’t understand why we didn’t sign Darmian. That was a perfect signing if you ask me.
I think the biggest loss out of those three is Tevez. Pirlo had two great seasons with us, but after that he didn’t impress me. So in my opinion we lost him a year ago. I think (or hope) Vidal can be replaced by Asamoah or Sturaro at least in Serie A. Replacing Tevez could be difficult, but we managed to win the league with strikers like Vucinic or Matri – Zaza, Dybala, Mandzukic are definitely better.
Not signing Darmian could be because Torino didn’t want to sell him to us, or him not wanting to sign for us. But otherwise I agree, he could have been perfect.
The other teams are stronger than in the Vucinic and Matri years though.
True, but remember the countless chances this team made against anyone and they still missed them. Hopefully Mandzukic and Zaza can finish way better than them, and then we’re fine.
Pirlo has been sublime … Incredible.
How can you not see that or admit that?
I think he had a vital part in his first two years with Conte, but after that (and especially last year) he made us vulnerable. I just think Marchisio was better last year, and I’m not worried about him leaving.
Our summer has been a disaster. Not just on the field but off it as well. If we weren’t in a weak league we would be in big trouble.
TL;DR: I disagree.
Off the field: We sold some important players but at the same time we bought some pretty interesting ones too. Tevez and Vidal wanted to leave, there wasn’t anything we could do about it. It was better to sell them than keeping unmotivated / frustrated palyers around on high wages. Pirlo left, but that’s hardly a loss when Marchisio played better than him every single match he got in Pirlo’s role.
We strengthened our defense by selling Ogbonna and bringing in Rugani, Zaza and Dybala can be the next best strikers, we secured Pereyra who was great last year, and we also brought in experience with Mandzukic and Khedira. Also Neto on a free. Sorry, but all these were awesome moves.
On the field I can’t say too much, these were friendlies. These are not for competing, they are simply part of the trainings.
Zaza was a awesome move? Really? I guess maybe I just have higher expectations than you do. Zaza should be playing for a team like Genoa or Udinese. He has no business playing for the Champions League finalists.
And we still have no wingers. That means no plan B when things get difficult or people get injured.
Getting a young and promising striker is an awesome move compared to previous years when we got players like Boriello to be our back up strikers. It may be risky, but overall it is a better deal. He probably won’t start in the CL anyway.
You probably have higher expectations, since I believe we had an awful lot of luck with the draws on our way to the CL final. We could have got Barca instead of Madrid for example.
I kind of agree on the plan B part though. I guess we will change back to 3-5-2 (or more like 5-3-2) when we want to defend.
Paying €18m for a average striker is never a good move. And Zaza is 24. It’s time we stop the ‘young and promising’ thing.
Well we did get about €10m for him in 2013 if I remember correctly, so his overall price was closer to €10m than €20m. Still better than having Matri around.
Bottom line is we paid €18m for a completely average player. Did we see a lot of interest in Zaza from Man City? Chelsea? Barca? No? I wonder why that is.
Who gives a flying fuck about friendlies? We got a lot of talented youth this summer, along with experienced players. It’s not the same Juve, but to call this a disaster is acting like a drama queen mate
Agreed. I learned to never judge Juve or anything Italian on friendlies. They just don’t care. Only judge Juve when we play for something. So this supercoppa and the first few league games will be the first test for this team.
We did not get a lot of talented youth this summer. Certainly nothing that can replace what we lost. If you don’t think we’ve taken a major step back you’re being naive.
We did, but they can’t be judged yet at this point. Dont be pessimistic
I’m all for signing young talent but that does nothing for right now. We lost 3 of our most important players. None of them have been replaced.
Our shape is changing, we got other players with other characteristics. Pirlo is one of a kind and just cant be replaced. We have marchisio who played his role though and Pogba stepping up. Vidal left, we got khedira as An experienced replacement with Sturaro the talent to replace him long term. As for Tevez, we got Mandzukic and Dybala to fill the gap he left.
Different players, different Juve. Stronger or weaker, we shall see! They need time ofc and they replace big names, but we should wait and believe in them. Management knows what they are doing
I think we are significantly weaker. We are going to get steamrolled in Europe.
We overperformed last season, compared to that yeah we are weaker. Steamrolled however, nah. This team is still capable of going far, only question is, will they gel well and fast enough? And will they succeed or flop individually
I wouldn’t be surprised if we go out in the group stages to be honest. If we sign Sandro that’s a good step in the right direction. I think he is excellent.
We are pot 1 team, I am pretty sure we will at least make it out of groups. Expect us to get to qf honestly. Also excited about Sandro!
So I was at the gym today preparing to do some deadlifts and getting myself in the zone, when all of a sudden I glance at the TV and see Vidal playing for Bayern….. Crap…. Concentration Instantly gone lol. I still managed to do 2 good sets with my eyes completely glued to TV , before deciding to move somewhere else to finish off my remaining sets.
Arturo leave me alone man!!!!! Lol
He managed to get a yellow in a couple of minutes after a ton of hard fouls and scored a penalty in the penalty series. Or was it not the game against Wolfsburg?
It was against Milan in the Audi Cup.
Oh. I heard De Jong was a bad boy again in this match.
I am gone for Vacation for 5 days and now Khedira and Morata are hurt along w Chiellini. Better hope Barza is back for saturday. The summer is the worst. Looks like we are moving for Siquiera? Move Asa to mid and get a playmaker I guess. I’m starting to get pretty anxious for the season. Really want this 5th scudetto
had to change my avi to il principino
So it looks like we are signing Siqueira from Atletico for 10m. 2m/season. Darmian, Rodriguez, Kurzawa, Coentrao, Alonso, Rui. Any of the big names could have been attempted, and Alonso and Rui wouldve been less than 10m, and theyre all younger. And better.
Idk if they would have been significantly less than 10m. Plus its a loan and then obligation so that spreads it out and defers the payment which will probably help us get the playmaker this summer
Yeah also rather disappointed about this one, there were so many options and we take the least exciting
While getting out of my car half an hour ago a kid walked by wearing a Juventus jersey with Pirlo on the back. Seeing that made me smile. 99% of the time it’s Barca, Real Madrid, Ajax or Feyenoord being worn by children here.
I wore my Marchisio jersey to a Yankees game a week or so back and some guy came up to me and said that Marchisio is his favorite player in Europe and we only talked about him for like 10 minutes it was awesome
Yeah I see it here more often too nowadays, Juve jackets and tshirts with the logo on it. No jerseys yet though.
Pogba give the 10 shirt. did not expect that. Its time for him to step up and become the cornerstone of this team.
Wow Pogba asked for the #10 and was given to him. I know Rav is not happy about this based on twitter but I really like it. He has been here long enough to know how much weight that shirt carries and I see him delivering. I don’t think that necessarily means that we are not going for a TQ either. Now I just hope that after Rugani establishes himself this year he gets the #6 to follow in Scirea’s footsteps
Looks like Khedira gets #6
Pogba will for sure be around for 2+ years now i think.
That’s what I am hoping for as well. After the world cup 2018 maybe?
That would be great. We have contract to 2019, so I think we will play it out how we see fit. A chance at that, or a summer after a another big season.
I think if he has a great season, which is what I expect, then we will raise his pay again and really entice him to stay in torino
Seriously? O.o This suprises me big time. I love this guy though. Stepping up to Ferguson telling him to play him or lose him and keeping his word on it. Just asking Juve to give him the #10 jersey which means so much to the club and it’s fans and he actually gets it.
These things takes balls, i like this. Now he needs to have an explosive season though. But if anyone can handle this pressure, it’s him.
Pogba is definitely not by any means a #10. But, I have no problem with our best player wearing the #10, especially if it keeps him around longer. It’s been a while since a Juve #10 failed to live up to the shirt, I don’t see how Pogba will be any different.
He did talk recently about playing behind the strikers but you’re right about him not really being the traditional #10. Allegri actually said today that in a few years he can see Pogba playing in front of the defense which kinda surprised me
I could see Pogba being a more athletic and far more skilled Xabi Alonso. A deep lying playmaker with tons of skill who can cover lots of ground, is athletic and has solid defensive skill.
I wouldn’t want that to take away from his goal scoring though. He can play the beautiful diagonal or long ball but he can also score the amazing goal. Also in a few years Pogba still will be relatively young so I guess it depends on how he progresses.
Ask Stevie G how playing a little further back at Scouserpool took away from his goal scoring.
You’re talking too lightly of Pirlo here lol.
Pogba should never be used as a defensive player. He has way too many attacking skills for that. We are really gonna need him close to the attack this year.
Has anyone else noticed the attractiveness of Serie A returning? Lots of quality players are coming into the league. This season should be the best season in a while. We should still win the league, but it looks like everyone is getting better, which should translate into better European campaigns for Serie A. Roma is looking like a CL quarterfinals team, Napoli are a defender or 2 away from consistently making the CL/EL knockout rounds, Inter has rebuilt and could be a solid Euro team next season, and AC is figuring it out slowly. Even Samp, Lazio and Fiorentina look impressive on paper.
Too bad Samp shit the bed against some crap team. They’re actually playing right now but I think they need to overcome a 4-0 loss in the first leg. Zenga might be out after today…
Zenga should be out and yeah 0-4 down in the first leg. Oh well. On paper their team looks great.
Maybe they go for Montella? He’s not doing anything rn.
Orrrrrrrr suck it up and convince Guidolin to start coaching again. Best Italian coach.
Goal Samp 1-0…they’re going for it haha maybe it can stay Zenga
If they win, I’d still fire Zenga. He’s a cancer. Who the fuck wouldn’t take a free Cassano?
I think a lot of teams wouldn’t take him. It seemed like Ferrero wanted him back but he is 33 fat and lazy. Could’ve worked but if it started going poorly then I’m sure it would’ve ended miserably for everyone
Italian teams need to start spending money on stadiums and infrastructure.. All the big leagues have done it, with France recently completing their new stadia and renos for next years Euro.
I see your point but my concern is sustaining it … Only with a new stadium can a team truly compete in Europe and the league, this is something Italy is in dire need of rectifying.
Alot of teams are working on this. It will take a couple of years, that’s inevitable. I do agree with tpick. The Serie A is looking very interesting this year. Also due to the fact that we got weaker. Roma has gotten alot stronger compared to last season and i can even see Inter finishing in the top 3 this year.
Samp started the european year terribly. Lets hope it remains with just them failing.
Right now the only teams with their own stadiums are Juve, Udine, and Sassuolo! Looks like Roma, Milan, and even Bologna are making moves tho which is great for not only the teams but the league in general
I agree .. It does look interesting. Many teams have been involved in transactions of buying and selling in the neighbourhood of 40 million ..
inter, Roma and Milan have all spent money, which is surprising. These teams had to do something to bridge the gap between them and us. We’ve been dominating Serie A for years, they’re fed up of losing to us.
I had thought even with the losses of Tevez. Pirlo and Vidal we would still win the league, but with the recent injury issues and the failure thus far to buy someone to to replace Vidal. I’m a little concerned ..
