Juventus striker Alvaro Morata has extended his contract with the club until 2020.
The announcement was made via a brief statement on Juve’s official club website.
“Alvaro Morata has extended his contract with Juventus. ” the statement reads.
“The Spanish striker, whose previous agreement expired in 2019, has signed a new contract with the club for another season at Juventus, expiring June 30, 2020.”
If only that would cancel the buyback clause 🙁
Don’t worry about it, Morata decides whether he stays or leaves anyway, this is simply a first option kind of deal.
I know, but will he stay?
For now, probably, but I can’t imagine a spanish international who came through Real’s youth to reject their team IF they call. Maybe if they kick Benzema out this summer, otherwise I don’t think he has any reason to go back just yet. He needs to play and he knows this.
That is what I fear too, I really want him to stay here, but is his heart with us or with Madrid? Hard to tell
To be honest, I don’t think he is consistent enough to satisfy Real’s demands right now. Real may not even need him, this buy back option could just be for the fans. “See guys? We care about the youth, we don’t waste them!” And then they can just sign whoever they want instead of him.
True but they also have this habit of buying back if the player improved his value and then sell him again for a profit, which also could be the case for Morata
Could you give me an example on such a deal? I can’t seem to recall a deal like that by Madrid.
Me personally, no. I dont recall any well known players who they did this with.
But their president Florentino Perez sure as hell wouldnt back off from such deals
Well, okay, but as I’m going through their transfers, I don’t see buying back and reselling players. They sometimes buy someone and then sell him for more, but that’s natural really. Those they bring up from their Castilla, usually get released for free, or as in Morata’s case he is sold for some money.
I just don’t think they would buy Morata back to sell him. Who wants a guy who was born in Madrid more than Real? In my opinion, they will buy him back when he is good enough for them as first choice striker. If he doesn’t prove to be that good, they’ll just let him stay here.
I hope so, I want him right here!
It’s a strange move, on the club’s part, to extend the contract at this stage, especially as it seems the buy-back clause remains intact.
Perhaps it was something agreed a while back and the extension includes a wage increase – after his fine performances last season – which we have not heard of in the press yet surely is inclusive in the new deal. Which will be just reward for last season as well as a sign of our commitment to Morata as part of both our present and future.
As for the buy back clause…If we wish to remove it, we will have to pay Real Madrid. I have see figures of 10m bandied about. Which would bring his total transfer to 30m. Yet why would Real accept?
As Peter stated, the buyback clause is dependent not solely on Real Madrid using it, but the player’s will. If he wants to stay with Juve, there is nothing Real can do about it.
I suppose the club are doing all they can to make him feel valued. Yet the fact remains, we are presently 5th in the table and if we finish outside the top three, which is still very possible, and fail to qualify for the champions league, will he want to stay? I doubt it. Also to be considered is his lack – presently – of a starting berth. With EURO 2016 on the horizon, Morata will be desperate to be playing regularly. And if we do qualify for the champions league and Morata announces himself more potently on the international stage next Summer, his value will soar…but will that value be for us or Real?
Regardless, its in the player’s interests to knuckle down, work dam hard, make the most of any opportunities he finds and gets back to the outstanding talent we all witnessed and enjoyed last season.
You nailed it – I think this is more in line with Morata going through a bad patch and the club showing solidarity. While he’s being unfairly slaughtered in the press, the club are standing by him, showing that he’s an integral part of the future.
The buy back clause has been hanging over his Juve career and how i wish we had never agreed to such a stupid term. There’s rumblings of a transfer ban for Real and Benezema may well be sold next summer – Don;t know how the buyback would work but the will of the player is paramount to all this. He insists at every juncture, that he’s happy in Turin and the juventini need not worry about his future. I wish i could have faith – Coman and Vidal said likewise.
Lets see what happens – Best way to silence people would be to score some goals v La Viola this weekend !
