Cristiano Ronaldo has seemingly confirmed that Maurizio Sarri was correct when stating the Portuguese forward was playing through injury.

The Italian press speculated over a possible rift between Sarri and Ronaldo when CR7 was substituted twice in a week and then pictured storming off the pitch before leaving the stadium prior to the end of the Bianconeri’s 1-0 win over Milan.

“In the last three weeks I have been limited,” Ronaldo confirmed to A Bola.

“Everyone knows that I don’t like to be substituted, but there was no problem in my gestures after the change. I tried to help Juventus by playing injured.

“No one likes to be replaced, but I understand it, because I wasn’t well in those two games. I wasn’t 100%.”

Ronaldo scored a hat-trick for Portugal against Lithuania in their Euro 2020 qualifiers.
